Gunstar
My sister's PS2 actually. She got the PS2 for x-mas for the family so they can play all the new PS2 games and she can still play her favorite PS1 titles. Shes pissed and never wants to buy another Playstation product. She bought it because she was told PS1 game will work. I know hey are supposed to, but I tried to help and she is right, none of my games or hers will play on her PS2. Won't even begin to load, it just says "disc read error" right away. This is a used PS2, possibly one of he first. Was there problems with the first models playing PS1 games? Is there a fix? IF so, when, where, how and why...
CPUWIZ
We are talking about original discs here right ? I haven't had any problem getting PS1 discs to boot on any of my PS2's ?? Perhaps it's just a broken PS2 she bought.

Gunstar
I took care of the problem. I opened it up and cleaned the laser eye, now both PS1 and PS2 work fine. Thanks!
moycon
One thing I don't like about the option to "smooth" the PS1 games graphics is that you have to enable the option everytime you boot up. Any way around this??
bigferret
That drives me nuts, too. But some games sure look cool with it. Omega Boost looks great with smoothing on. And Front Mission 3 looks much, much better.
