boxpressed
I'm packing up a Vectrex for a fellow AAer and have a nice, roomy box and plenty of peanuts. The box is big enough for me to lay the bubble-wrapped Vectrex on its back, front (screen), left side, right side, top, or bottom. What would be the best way to orient the unit for safe shipping, provided that the USPS heeds my "This end up" markings? I'm leaning toward having it standing up as it usually does, but would want to know from any tube experts out there. I imagine that this would apply to shipping CRTs as well. Thanks in advance! tpugmire
I would place it so that the largest surface of the box is the top/bottom. If that means that it will be on it's back, so be it. I'm a driver for Fedex, and when larger packages go through our system, that is generally how they travel. I've never personally observed USPS's system, but I'd imagine it is very similar.
