devwebcl
Hi All, At atarimania appears Dandy Level Printer. Does anybody have it ? Cheers & Thanks. Devwebcl
+CharlieChaplin
Well, its nothing special and afaik not a separate tool (do not know why atarimania lists it as a separate/stand-alone tool). Instead the Dandy level-printer is/was included on every Dandy disk as a Basic program... (PRINTLEV.BAS). Attached it here... -Andreas Koch. devwebcl
I have create the 26 maps for original Dandy: http://manillismo.bl...andy-mapas.html Cheers, --Devwebcl Now I have dumped all the different maps: http://manillismo.bl...-los-mapas.html
+CharlieChaplin
Hello, since you dumped all the different Dandy maps, I guess you also have all the different disks and levels...?!? Could you upload your level-disks here ?!? I am asking because I have 10 level-disks in my collection, atarionline.pl has another approx. 20 level-disks, but of course lots of them are doubles (and it would take ages for me to find out which levels are doubles and which ones are not and finally to eliminate all the doubles)... Here you can find the level disks of atari-online: http://atarionline.pl/v01/index.php?ct=katalog&sub=D&tg=Dandy#Dandy Attached you will find the levels I have. Note, that I once downloaded all levels from Aaron Wheeler (Holmes afaik) and edited them, because a) some of the levels were just too hard (most of the time, I added lots of bombs there) and b) some of the levels had bugs (they did not have space for all four players, since all four players form a cross / or a plus and some of Aarons levels and the starting point of the players were designed in such a way, it sometimes happened that some players were then placed off the screen). Last not least, some of Aaron`s level-disks did not contain all levels A-Z, so I designed the missing levels there... Maybe you can check the atarionline levels and the levels I have, also create maps of them (of the levels you don`t have) and then finally upload a mega-set of dandy-levels without any doubles... Think you already know, that all Dandy levels can also be used (unchanged) in the game Aliens, since this is just Dandy with an altered font. One of my Atari comrades also created alternative Dandy fonts many many years ago (load these fonts and the levels are still the same, but everything looks very different)... devwebcl
Hi Andreas, Yes, I knew Aliens from AtariOnline. I was looking for different Dandy levels. It is interesting how changing the fonts creates a really different game atmosphere, plus doing a Aliens movie tribute, it is always welcome. Probably I am going to convert to PNG the first disk of Aliens, although it is the same, I just want to see the final result... Actually I have used all the levels found at Holmes & Atarionline.pl If you see at http://devwebcl.atar...pl/dandy/mapas/ there I have put the names to identify them, after converting all the levels I have search for different files. directories with levels1 thru levels7 are the disk found at Holmes (disk7 that sais WIP, is the only one different). Directories between P1 till P21 are from Atarionline and then I've added a suffix to create a reference to a similar Holmes level. i.e.: P4-levels3 : means that is disk P4 from atarionline and it is very similar to levels3 Holmes disk. Also, there are several levels that are almost the same, only some objects were changed. Maybe these can be deleted to have a more authentic list of maps. i.e.: http://devwebcl.atar...p16-levels1.png http://devwebcl.atar...p17-levels1.png I am not sure about this decision yet. Thanks for sharing the files, I am going to convert them and uploaded the final maps. devwebcl
Hi Andreas, I have converted the files you have uploaded. they can be found at: http://devwebcl.atarionline.pl/dandy/mapas/ under dandyXX-cchaplin directories or download a single file: http://devwebcl.atarionline.pl/dandy/mapas/dandy-cchaplin-mapas.rar Still I haven't compared with the unique files I have: http://devwebcl.atarionline.pl/dandy/mapas/00_uniques/ however as expected many are duplicated, but some seem to be unique. +CharlieChaplin
Hello again ! Maybe if you have completed all the Dandy maps and sorted out all doubles, you could release the ultimate Dandy disk collection (containing all the different levels, without any doubles at all)...?!? And err, upload this ultimate Dandy Disk/ATR collection here or at your homepage. This would be really great and it would save me a lot of work (comparing all the disk-levels and sorting out any doubles)... Of course I would then also use these levels for the Dandy spin-off, named Aliens... Regarding several levels that are almost the same (and only some objects were changed), I would keep the easier levels and delete the more difficult ones (e.g. keep the level with the small skulls and delete the level with the big skulls). Many years ago I edited more than 100 Dandy levels by Aaron Wheeler that were extremely difficult, next to unplayable and most of the time I did change only a few things there. So again, in case of doubles try to keep the easier and more playable levels... Greetings, Andreas Koch.
