+DarkLord
Was playing around with my STacy and some left over parts when I noticed there was a difference between 2 of the bottom bases. The older one, ending in serial number #131, doesn't have the odd mystery port or cover we talked about in this thread: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=21838 The 2nd bottom base, a newer one, ending in serial #654, does have the port and cover for the mystery port. Any other STacy users care to see if their machines do or do not have this mystery port, and what their serial numbers are? Just out of curiosity's sake... +DarkLord
1962, no mystery port Er...had to google that. I'm assuming you're referencing the year VME got its start?

+DarkLord
Oh wow - what an odd coincidence! Jens, I know, I know, I had just asked for serial #s and if they had the odd port or not, but I had just gotten up when I read that and went in a whole different direction. If you google vme 1962, its actually connected! Like I said, how odd! Thanks for the reply though.

+DarkLord
Nice. Its looking like its a VME port. I seriously wonder what Atari would have done with it (if anything), if they and the STacy had continued. Here is a pic of the VME port specs/standards so you can see how it matches up:
jens
Well, do we have to search for VME ports on plain Mega ST's as well?
+DarkLord
Just found this, and now the plot thickens - wish the picture was a little higher quality: At least 2 of my spare STacy cases have that opening/cover where this port is, and 2 spare motherboards have the connections, but *none* of my STacy's have the actual connector that's show in this picture. Does anyone have a STacy that actually has that header there?
