www.atarimania.com
As the auction is US only, I was wondering whether somebody would be interested in getting this very rare game so it can be archived: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 330665750105 Thanks in advance for any help. -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
+orpheuswaking
Well I was going to, but now you have told everyone how rare it is a bidding war will break out and it will go for stupid money
www.atarimania.com
Well, I hope not... Thing is it's pretty difficult to know who is interested in picking up such items and archiving them. There are regular contributors for sure but do the hardcore collectors actually frequent AtariAge? -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
Tin_Lunchbox
Everest-climbing "logistics management" game by "experienced climber," sounds really good, but you never know quite what you're going to get with BASIC simulations.
www.atarimania.com
According to the review in the 1984 edition of The Book of Atari Software, the game is all text and pretty much like Kingdom set in another environment. I believe it was given a D+ or something so we certainly didn't lose a masterpiece... Anyway, as the program is probably just a single BASIC file, I'm confident it will at least appear in cracked form from some old pirate compilation disk... -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
+Allan
Well, I hope not... Thing is it's pretty difficult to know who is interested in picking up such items and archiving them. There are regular contributors for sure but do the hardcore collectors actually frequent AtariAge? Not the one who won it, although he is a member here. My guess is though that your going to have to keep looking for it. Allan
+orpheuswaking
Yup, once it got over $30 I had to bow out

www.atarimania.com
Your choice of course but why not dump the disk? -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com

www.atarimania.com
Thanks! So the game is copy-protected? Just asking because the two Acorn Software programs that I dumped years ago - Lost Colony and French Teacher #1 - weren't. -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
AtariGeezer
Hmmm, it's a basic program... shouldn't be a problem removing any protection if there is any. I'll convert it to an ATR and see how it loads. It has DOS and an autorun.sys, besides Everest... Viewing the Everest file in ATR Tools, I see only one ML routine... Farb
So the game is copy-protected? Just asking because the two Acorn Software programs that I dumped years ago - Lost Colony and French Teacher #1 - weren't. Not necessarily. I image all of my original disks as PRO images so I know they came from originals (vs. a found ATR for example).
AtariGeezer
Here's a working ATR, no protection on the original Jay Everest.atr
miker
Thanks! <snip> Thanks, too! The more discoveries like this, the bigger number of "lost programs" saved. Edited January 10, 2012 by miker
