How does the difficulty switch work with the 7800?

Many 2600 games use a difficulty switch. But I can't find one on my 7800. I'm just wondering how it works when I play a 2600 game on my 7800.

The difficulty switch is by each joystick port on a 7800...

But I honestly never knew that! They don't say "Difficulty Switches" or anything.

That's ok, I'm a bit ignorant about the 7800 too--but then again, I bought mine used from a friend, no instructions or box (never even SEEN either one)--and I posted elsewhere about what this jack was (that I had never noticed) when I got my 7800 out of mothballs last year and started playing it again for the first time in 10 years. I was told that was the early model where a laserdisc player was supposed to attach to. Interesting.

 

Oh, and I never realized my right difficulty switch was on "b" until I got Tower Toppler yesterday, which I was surprised to have it jump through all the towers, not letting me play any of the game...?! I kept on switching controllers, but...! Then I looked up the game on here and found out that there's a glitch where it'll cycle through the towers if a difficulty switch is on. Oh...ha ha!

Nah... if you note a lot of my posts seem to end that way...!

 

I only guessed that's what they were when I first got a 7800 because I'd had a 2600 before a long time ago. I do wish though it marked which way was which however...
