Lendorien
Is this a 7800 rom then? That's just Awesome! I see someone did it for the 2600 too. Edited January 17, 2012 by Lendorien
Tom
scene.org, pouet.net etc. are down today, for whatever reason. In the meantime, grab it from the attachment. Oh yes, fwiw, I coded this. vtg_nyan7800.zip Edited January 17, 2012 by Tom

GroovyBee
Oh yes, fwiw, I coded this. Maybe you should come over to the dark side and start coding games

Tom
Actually I mean this. I enjoy some programming after work, but I don't have the energy to program games in my free time.
GroovyBee
Actually I mean this. I enjoy some programming after work, but I don't have the energy to program games in my free time. Understood! How long did it take you to code the 7800 Nyan Cat demo?
Tom
Don't know, couple of hours over a couple of evenings. Music is taken from the 2600 version.
GroovyBee
Will you be doing any more demos on the 7800?
Tom
I don't know. I can only test 32k ROMs. I can't really think of anything much impressive, not without additional RAM.
Tom
Also, the TIA's sound capabilities suck. While some people have done pretty decent music for the 2600 I don't think I'd want to do a 7800 demo with TIA sound. To be honest, the 7800 is a really ridiculous thing. GroovyBee
You can do some interesting things with 7800 graphics like G2F and 160C (high colour mode like APAC on the A8s). Have a look at my profile for links to the games I'm working on, tech demos and tools too.

guy767
I just played this via the MESS emulator and it was really quite good. I actually prefer this version to the official one. It would be pretty cool to have it as a screen saver; probably would be difficult to make one though that's light on CPU resources. I know my judgment probably doesn't mean much as you’re looking for feedback from your fellow peer programmers but you really did a great job IMO. It's still a VERY annoying internet meme though but this version makes it bearable. It's like being stabbed in the eye with a cotton swab rather than a screwdriver. also has cotton swab qualities too

What is this- some kind of sick advertising scheme for the XM?!?! .....
Tom
Well, I'm more waiting for easily available PCBs with EPROM, RAM and a socket for a sound chip (doesn't have to be a Pokey...you could stick in a CPLD or Micro emulating anything, right). That would be quite sufficient for me. Edited January 19, 2012 by Tom
Lynxpro
The 7800 version can be downloaded here :- I want to see a conversion of "Midnight Mutants" to the "Charlie Sheen's Adventures" where you are a frikkin' warlock rockstar from Mars and you have to save the planet by gaining Tigerblood power-ups and Adonis DNA enhancers as you try to take down the evil Hollywood studios and save all of the planet's women for yourself... Each time you kill a villain, an audio sample would play Sheen proclaiming "winning" and if you have an SIO-to-Ethernet cable connection for the 7800XM, it'll post your current score with hashtag #winning to Twitter. I'd pay $50 for that. And you know Charlie Sheen would eat that up big-time.
