31336haxx0r
I recently an all-black 2600 Jr. just like this one here. How rare are those? IIRC they were only made as PAL devices. Is that correct? How much cash would one usually shell out for one of them in mint condition?
20ohm20
I've never seen one that wasn't PAL. That being said, I bought a boxed one a few months ago from an AA member with a NTSC board in it for around $35 + shipping IIRC.
31336haxx0r
Dang, mine came unboxed for 20 €€€s. Well atleast I have my collection of PAL 2600s complete: - Light Sixer - Darth Vader - Woody 4 switch - big rainbow Jr. - small rainbow Jr. - all black Jr.
Deteacher
If it's NTSC, I would guess it came from Canada (based on the way they spelled "colour.") Otherwise, I would guess it was PAL. That's just my guess. Edited May 1, 2012 by Deteacher
sqoon
Based on the word "colour", I have to think this is a PAL case with NTSC board switched out.
the.golden.ax
As far as I know they made them for Canada and Ireland. I've wondered allot but there isn't a ton of info on it. I've seen them with black cart slots, and white. IIRC white is Ireland and PAL. Black was NTSC Canadian. That's as far as I know unless someone knows better. Yeah I'd say $35 - $50, they are oddities but not something people search for. Not really valuable over the price of any other JR.
31336haxx0r
Black cart connector is (or appears to be) NTSC and white is PAL, now this is interesting! I wonder why they did that? Regarding that colour/color thing, all of my PAL 2600 have "color" there while only my black Jr. has the "colour" writing.
high voltage
Anyone ever seen a box for it?
nofrills100
100% Irish PAL, - infact it should tell you that on the back label/serial no. No such thing as an NTSC all black IMO. I'd say 5/10 rarity, see them on European ebays quite often

nofrills100
The Irish port is definitely black, i've owned a number of them in the past as they are the coolest looking consoles. Never heard of or seen a production white port 'all black' jnr. If they exist then surely they would be up towards 10 for rarity. Perhaps they were modified/interchanged to make them NTSC?
20ohm20
Perhaps they were modified/interchanged to make them NTSC? I have two black 2600 Jr's - both were made in Ireland (per the label on the bottom) - but on one of them, someone swapped out the original PAL board with a NTSC one. The PAL and NTSC boards have the same dimensions, etc. and use the same kind of switches and flex circuit. Both of mine also have black cartridge ports. I don't think I've ever seen a white one... the.golden.ax
I got one a few years back with a white cart port from Game Gavel.
nofrills100
You still got it? If so, take some pics, inside also.
the.golden.ax
I may, but I think I sent it to Longhorn 2 summers ago for his portable 2600 project.
31336haxx0r
My black Jr. ("Made in Ireland", PAL) has the white cartridge port.

Fr0st
So post a picture please. Its been eight days since someone asked you. I would like to see it too, having lived in Ireland all my life and never seen one. Not saying it doesn't exist, just wanna see it... 31336haxx0r
It's almost 11 pm here. I'm dead tired and have to get up early tomorrow. I have to do some other stuff right now. When that's finished, I'll see if I post pics. BTW, I had a small rainbow Jr. in the mail today, made in Ireland, with "COLOUR" instead of "COLOR"! I think I'll take comparison pics of the black Jr, small rainbow and irish small rainbow.
31336haxx0r
First, an overview. On top is the black Jr, then comes the Irish small rainbow Jr and at the bottom is the Taiwan made small rainbow Jr. Now the backsides of the Jr's. The Black Jr and Taiwan Jr don't have warranty seals while the Irish small rainbow's is broken: A closeup of the black Jr. Notice spelling "COLOUR". The Irish small rainbow. Again notice spelling "COLOUR".
