NE146
Check out the article and the "2600 Screenshot" in today's article at http://www.somethingawful.com/
Lemmi
hahahahaha this is sooo true The 5200 came with an unbelievable TWO buttons on the controller, a feature that would've added unparalleled gameplay to any title if some engineer at Atari would've ever figured out how to make the buttons actually fucking work. The Atari 5200 joysticks were designed to break and lock up when exposed to oxygen, allowing only astronauts or Michael Jackson to successfully use them. AtariDude
While I liked the article over all, I didn't like it when they were ragging on Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog was and still is one of my favorite games. I used to play that thing for hours when it came out. Thank goodness now for emulation so that I can save the "nice" ending and look at it without having to play 2 hours at a time.
Voch
So is agreeing with the article the first sign that I'm getting old? Funny stuff. I like the slams on the NES myself (never got into that system much except for SM3). If I could edit out the swear words I would hang that article in my workplace. AtariLeaf
If I could edit out the swear words I would hang that article in my workplace. Voch Yes. Its hard to take someone seriously when they use curse words instead of more descriptive adjectives. It shows a lack of intelligence for the material and a lack of respect for the reader. Otherwise a pretty funny read.
Voch
Its hard to take someone seriously when they use curse words instead of more descriptive adjectives. That would explain the look on my coworkers' faces when I use several "colorful metaphors" while programming. Voch
MegaManFan
That would explain the look on my coworkers' faces when I use several "colorful metaphors" while programming. This should probably be in my signature somewhere... Dr. Gillian Taylor: So you're from outer space? Kirk: No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space. AtariLeaf
I use the "that much is certain" line quite often. I don't know why, I just love Spock's dry, matter of fact delivery of that line.
Room 34
Damn this is funny! But that guy in the screenshot of "The Princess is North" looks like a Swedish tuba player I went to college with. Creepy!
joeybastard
A Swedish Tuba player? That is creepy...
AtariLeaf
A Swedish Tuba player? That is creepy... No creepier then a Polish flute player.
Adriana
Gawd damn that was hysterical! Good link, thanks for posting it! Completely over-the-top exaggerated, but that's what makes it funny!
Witchfynde
Damn this is funny! But that guy in the screenshot of "The Princess is North" looks like a Swedish tuba player I went to college with. Creepy! Hee hee, yeah, I think that would make a good game too I'm surprised he didn't mention reading an instruction (book) manual for some of the games that are like 200 pages long... Atari Rescue Group
A funny article. Maybe he missed Space Shuttle. With the instructions, control tip card, overlay and the screen, it was well before it's time in the "confusion" category.

RangerG
Where's the article? I clock on the news forum on the side, then January 2003, then the title of the article "Atari to Xbox etc." and thus it goes to a page with a huge fat kid with his shirt off and lots of stretch marks on his belly and it says page error. I refuse to look at that kid again -- RG
raindog
They seem to have only put up today's edition in the last hour or two, and probably haven't moved yesterday's to the archives yet. This should be the URL to it when it does get archived: http://www.somethingawful.com/archives/dai...e-23-1-2003.htm Right now, yes, it's the fat kid.
