newcoleco
This week, after 2 days of coding and banging my head on my desk a few times, I've managed to make this tiny application in Java for most of the Android devices. Use your Android device and click on this link to install it. Coleco Sound Emulation Demo for Android 1.6+ Size : 18KB Description : Lite Coleco sound format emulation with music samples based on OS7 (ColecoVision BIOS) sound format. Usage : Click buttons. First 2 buttons to activate and deactivate the sound chip emulation, the other buttons are music samples. Know Issues : The generated audio stream isn't perfect, there are small artefacts in the resulting frequencies. Generating the audio data needs a bit of CPU power, so it's not a good idea to leave the sound emulation running. And, if you change the screen orientation or leave and come back the application, a new sound emulation will be created each time, filling up the memory and cpu time if you make many of then running in the background. Future Goal : My ultimate goal is to be able to compose freely Coleco sounds and musics anywhere I want. Note : If I can develop this tool well enough, it might become my subject of presentation this summer at the Coleco convention.
