Gunstar
It reminds me of a movie I saw a couple years ago but I can't remember the title. Yes, something very familiar about it to me too, but I can't place it.

Gunstar
Nope, that's not what I remember it from myself, though, it does say on that link it's base on the H.G. Wells novel, and I think my memory is of some cover art from a paper-back edition of his book or something. My memory includes the two men and the pod. Gunstar
By the way, with the pop-art auto and Steam Punk images I started experimenting with more solutions, many more. For a very long time I've kept the number of solutions under 50, but I started trying more and more, going by factors of 8 (like 8-bit). I started at 128, then 256, 512. I'm now running some images at 1024 and 4096, I haven't posted any of these yet. I think it shows, in the detail, of the Steam-punk stuff, it takes a lot longer, but I think it's worth it. I have to do less other adjustments to get good results, most of the time, there are a couple images i am still trying to get right, even at thousands of solutions. The mountain landscapes were done at 128, I actually did them before the pop-art and Steam-punk, and sort of forgot about them for a while. I also used Jakub and OlivierP palettes for the Steam-punk images, they worked better for the subdued and earthy colors. Rybags
If you image search "El Capitan" some suitable looking pics show up. I get the feeling this one's already been done. Looks much better in the preview, done with Knoll dithering. rybags_yosemite1.xex Edited November 19, 2017 by Rybags
Gunstar
It hasn't been done by me, and obviously I do love my reflective landscapes. I like it! Edited November 19, 2017 by Gunstar
Rybags
If you want to have a crack at it, here's what I used as input. I thought I'd resized it to a suitable size but apparently not.

I almost always crop to 4:3 ratio on my pictures, except for a few that would cut off part of the main subject matter. (aside from pop-art which does that on purpose) Edited November 19, 2017 by Gunstar

+Stephen
Did anyone have a chance to try my pictures on real Ataris? Do the colors seem right or wrong? I can try them, but I don't think I'll attempt to take any photos. The camera in my cell phone is absolute shit compared to my old phone (even though this one is 5 years newer). It's also impossible to get good photos of this glossy CRT. Hope it doesn't matter that the machine is PAL. *** EDIT *** Tried your PAL ATR. Basically loks like what you posted from the emulator, with the muted colours. As expected my cell phone can't snap a usable picture from this PAL CRT. Also, the billiard table is yellow in the center, and the water picture is much more yellow than green.
Gunstar
Did anyone have a chance to try my pictures on real Ataris? Do the colors seem right or wrong? I've tried them, and things look off, but very colorful, but then they are NTSC correct? I didn't expect them to look right on my PAL. I didn't expect them to look right on my PAL. There's an ATR with PAL pictures using a palette I hoped would work for PAL. Stephen's description seems to prove my idea was wrong. NTSC palette was off for me but ever so slightly. I am encouraged that the saturated colors seem to translate to real machines. Ok, I found the PAL ATR, I missed it when I unzipped it into my extensive file where I keep the images. Very vibrant, on my non-stock machine, but the colors are off from the Atari 800 emulator screen shots. I can adjust my color pot and bring some colors into line, but then others change out.
