Thin Ice - dunvoo vs voodun

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this is amusing or sad...

Last night I was thinking about the two "variants" of Thin Ice and was convinced that there are two rom images floating around out there, usually named "dunvoo.rom" and "voodun.rom". So I checked my collection and didn't find the voodun variant. Eventually I hit the web in search of a rom to download, thinking I had lost it somewhere along the way. I found this posting to the intvprog list:

I was reading up a bit about Duncan's Thin Ice. The ROM image I have for it is

actually labeled "dunvoo", and sure enough when I mapped keys to trigger the

easter egg to switch it from Duncan to Voochko, it worked! It made me wonder if

the voodun variant is out there somewhere and/or if the dunvoo image has ever

been hacked to make it a voodun. It is something I'd love to have on my system.

For anyone who isn't up on the backstory, it's written up here:

Thanks,

Rick Reynolds

Yep, found my own posting asking the very same question over a year ago! It didn't get a response, so I figured I'd ask here. Anyone seen a voodun variant and/or have a rom image?

NOTE: the original link in that posting doesn't work. This is an updated link to that content: http://www.intellivi...its/intv1.shtml It seems that something at intellivisionlives.com has been hacked a bit because invalid links redirect you somewhere else completely.

Maybe there is no more voodun, rom because the game was canceled. And the dunvoo.rom only survived because the programmers kept it for themselves.

After all, you still can access Voochko.

And yes, the intellivisionlives has been hacked a few months ago.

A peace group hacked an Intellivision website? WTF?

:?

If you go to the first link provided it reroutes you to some peace activist site: http://www.intellivi...dits/intv1.html

EDIT: It looks like that may be their standard Page Not Found page as the link says something about moving. Still damn weird though.
