What does the DOM sticker mean on 400/800's?

I always figured it meant "DOM"estic, as opposed to PAL, but that's pure conjecture. I've grown accustomed to seeing it, and in many cases, if it's still there, the computer is intact and hasn't been meddled with, by the type who would peel off stickers, open cases, and such.

That actually makes a lot of sense.

As European 800s and 400s either have a PAL or a UK sticker (the difference between these being the RF modulators), I am also damn well sure DOM means "domestic". I don't know if there are FR versions of the 800, but there are SEACM 800XLs with a different video connector that were shipped with a SCART cable.

I was also curious about those labels, so if DOM means domestic, does that imply USA?

I opened mine and didn't found a "pal" either.

The Atari is our electric friend already, so no need to search for further pals, but we were discussing the stickers usually placed onto the aluminium RF shields, visible when the lid covering the cartridge port(s) is opened. It may have been removed on yours, though - we're talking 30 yo hardware, after all.
