jshutt007
I just got my old Atari 2600 system and Atari 7800 system out of the basement. Several years ago, the RCA out jack on the 7800 system became loose and was causing problems with the picture. My father soldered it in with a mass of solder and then it worked. Now, when I went to use it, I can hardly get a picture. I believe I need to replace the RCA jack. Can anyone tell me where I can find a replacement and how I can replace it? Also, can anyone tell me where I can find a new RCA cable? Thank you in advance.
lonesome_pa
As far as the jack itself, you should be able to get it at Radio Shack. For the RCA cable, use any single line RCA wire. I had an old 3 wire RCA cord (white, red, yellow), cut the yellow away from the other two and it works fine. I guess I could have left the 3 connected, but I didn't want the other 2 just dangling around.
jshutt007
Thanks for the help. Would catalog #: 278-2067 from Radio Shack be what I need to use to replace the jack?
+Mitch
I'm not sure if that will work. The RCA jack is part of the 7800 RF modulator which isn't available anywhere that I know of. If the solder cracked on the connection again then your best bet would be to get it resoldered. Mitch http://atari7800.atari.org
