Charlie_
Recently I took my power button apart, cleaned it, and put some dielectric grease in there. Put it all back together and it works good. However, sometimes when I turn the system on, I get nothing on the screen and have to press reset. Then the cart starts ok. I mainly use the Atarimax SD cart and many times I get the "insert cart before powering the system on message"... Press reset and the SD cart boots up fine. I believe the power button contacts are good. Even when it does this there are no more corrupt graphics. The games run great and solid. What causes this having to press reset thing. I was starting to think it was the cart slot because if I put in my Dragonfire cart in it always seems to start fine. But the Atarimax SD and some other carts, not so much. Still, sometimes the system starts up just fine. Seems to be hit or miss. Thanks!
ColecoDan
If the power brick is starting to go then that causes some games to work and some that need the exact voltages to start to fail. If you have the knowledge to be able to test that then test it while the system is on to make sure the voltages stay at expected levels while system on. If you don't then others on this board can help you.
Bruce Tomlin
Maybe your reset circuit is getting flaky? Looks like C3 is the capacitor, and U7 is the buffer for it.
