Fun with Tile Studio: creating the Paddle Party title screen

Not sure where to post this, because I don't think that they're the same program, but.. same name - Tile Studio:

Info: http://tilestudio.sourceforge.net/

Download: http://sourceforge.net/projects/tilestudio/

I've been playing around with it all day and so far I'm pretty impressed. It's not exactly designed for INTV stuff, and the interface is only about 90% there, but you can define your tiles and tile sizes, and then use them to build screens and/or larger things like maps, very easily. Decent zoom options as well. If you're making something that uses a small number of GRAM cards but covers the entire screen (and then some), something like this makes it MUCH easier to lay things out and visualize what the final product is gonna be. I could see this being very handy for a scrolling platformer.

There also is some sort of "code generator" - not sure if a person could customize this enough to spit out IntyBASIC-compatible (or other) code, but it's a neat option if so.

The text editor battle continues for the hearts and minds of people that should have better things to do. :)

I did quite a bit of vi back in the day, when terminals were terminals. So vi probably still influences my thinking.

But, I did this with a gui editor.

I'd also like to try Tile Studio to start messing around with making graphics. I assume contact William to get ahold of it since I haven't seen it floating around on the web? However that works, I'd like to get this software.. ;)

Elektronite have nothing to do with TileStudio. You can get the latest version of it from here :-

I made it easier for me to make cutscenes with Tilestudio. I set the palette at 16 colors. I entered in the palette information into the palette manager. Set the tile size to 8x8. And made sure to myself that it compatible with BG/FG mode to not use 2 pastel colors in one tile. When I was finish, I export the tilemap to an image. I converted the image with IntyColor to export it to .bas file. It converted over perfectly.

Now I can use less time looking at BG/FG graph and using a calculator to convert binary to hex to make a table of cards.
