Rarity Guides Accuracy

Take with a grain of salt the rarity and or value that is listed by any Rarity Guide for any and all systems seeing as things are always in such a state of flux. Best bet is too do some diligent homework on any item before purchasing it.

I maintain a Collectors Rarity List for the ColecoVision & ADAM Computer and one of the first things I state is that rarity values are always changing and there is no way to constanttly update them in the list all the time. It's a hobby afterall, not a full-time job. ;)

Same with the Intellivision guide which although it's a bit out of date there are patterns that give you a fairly good idea to know if you are chasing a rare game or not and prepare you for a possible high price, however there are always times when something that is supposed to be hard to get pops up cheap and no one is bidding on it.

Rarity guide is over priced but I do like seeing what rarity level they give games for shits and giggles. However it does appear that the price ratio from cart to boxed to sealed is on par pretty good.

So say they say a cart is $20 and a boxed is $60 and a sealed is $120 in reality the prices may be more like $10 $30 $60 but it's good if you know what a boxed goes for it helps you determine a better value for say a sealed game that doesn't show up much.
