tyranthraxus
The 7800 version must be based on the XE version. It looks very similar and also seems to lack that 'something' the original had. It looks good but isn't really as fun to play. Most of those monochrome games I believe originated on the Apple II. I think that in general most of the graphically bare games on the Atari or C=64 were ported from the monochrome Apple. John

Not sure who did the port to the Atari 800. Maybe the graphics aren't so great, but the control of the chopper is super. With the Atari, they had to figure out how to shoot and do a 90 and 180 turn with a one button joystick. Surprizingly , its really not hard to get used to. Gunstar
That second (larger, squished) full color picture is the 7800 version; it's alright, and I do believe, a port of the Sega arcade version. I always prefered the monochrome 8-bit version myself, but then, I never saw the XE version before, it looks good. I always passed on that cart because I too thought it was just the original put on an XE cart like they did with Lode Runner...Armaurote is a very cool looking monochrome game, but I never could figure out how to play it (no instructions), also, I can never get the thing to move&shoot in the direction I want before the flys or spiders or whatever get me!There are quite a few good monochrome games...wasn't jumpman&Jumpman junior in monchrome too? Nope it's just the regular old Grolin version. The only system tht got a port of the arcade version was the SMS. I don't care for the 7800 version, the chopper moves funny and it's hard to control. The graphics also look like they're too large or something. The 7800 version was written in FORTH by the same guy who butchered Karateka.
