+Gemintronic
This is a demonstration of a 16x16 Final Fantasy Adventure sprite with a giant boss made up of playfield blocks. It uses the multi-sprite kernel. Yeah, the guy is upside down since I manually hand coded it in. How did I get the boss on only one side of the screen? I used CTRLPF = $03 to make half of the playfield blocks white. I then placed a mask for the player sprite toward the bottom middle. Player0's half of the 16x16 sprite is actually a negative image. With the mask in the middle both halves look like a contiguous sprite. To be clear the boss is still being mirrored but since the background is white on one side you only see one copy.
