Deteacher Posted March 23, 2013 Share Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) Side scrolling shooter. Much like R-Type in feel of play. There is no randomness to the levels yet it is very challenging. The game has rather colorful and attractive graphics and a rather catchy musical track. You can collide with (and die from) the terrain. One very unique feature of the game is the dragon is multi segmented. The tail follows the heads movements in a "Snap the Whip" type of motion. Only the head is vulnerable so if you are to do a tight circle then put your head in the center your are mostly invulnerable. Saint Dragon Typed by Belgarath On a far distant planet you must prepare to fight the final battle! An evil force of monster machines has risen to conquer the Galaxy. One by one the peaceful races of the Galaxy have been attacked and enslaved by the Cyborg Monsters. None has the strength to stand against the power of the Cyborgs, until one lone rebel rises from within the ranks of the mechanised monsters. Part dragon, part machine, the Cyborg Warrior fights back against it's tyrant masters. The Galaxy has a Hero. Hope returns to the hearts of the people at the rise of the Armoured Champion they call, "SAINT DRAGON". In this reverse of the Saint George legend you must fly the Armoured Dragonship through six levels of non stop destruction. Choose between fireballs, bouncing bombs, ring lasers and turret weapons to blast your way through the armoured pumas, mechanical cobras, giant cyborg bull and a host of other mutant machines. But remember fire power isn't everything! Your ship has an armoured tail. Use it well and you may just survive. It's a shoot-em-up so shoot-em! You must blast your way through six enemy packed levels, each complete with its own giant end of level alien in order to rescue the giant dragon. In addition to your weapons you have an armoured tail that will protect your vulnerable head from small bullets and aliens. You will need to use it well to survive. Firepower - You start with a standard plasma bolt weapon and small fireball. You can enhance your weapons by picking up the following tokens. As always, check the leaderboard and report any errors to me through PM and I'll make the necessary corrections. Just as an FYI, with regard to game selections, once a person's game has been selected, I take that person out of the mix. Once every player (that made game suggestions) has had one of their games picked, everyone will go back into the hat and we start again. Once Mangia-Boy and MisterVCS have had games selected, there will be a "dealer's choice" round. I will select a game (or games) to play. Depending on how I decide, it may be a 2-week round, with bonus points available. I'm not sure how it will play out just yet, but I'm working on the details. It's more like R-Type meets Salamander. I've beaten it quite a few times on my iPad, but this is my first on a cabinet. Unfortunately, that's all the time I have this week. 135,700 Cynicaster, to belatedly answer your question from the Gyruss topic, yes, it only stuttered for Gyruss. It's MAME 0.144, and I was using the default video mode on a Core 2 Duo. I agree, very challenging considering each board plays the same every time. No bombs makes it tough to get out of jams. Thankfully they have the invincibility item you can capture.
