ComputerSpaceFan
Thinking I might pick up a used Wii and mod it to run the homebrew channel. One thing I wouldn't mind having is a Sega Saturn emulator although I hear the Saturn has always been a tough one to emulate. Given there's only about three Saturn games I'd want to run (Final Fight Revenge, Darkstalkers, and Panzer Dragoon) does anyone know the best emulator for these titles? Only found Yabause Wii from the homebrew wiki page but it looks like that has had issues over the years. Any recommendations?
TheGameCollector
There's no way that Saturn could possibly run smoothly on the Wii. Especially not if they haven't even mastered the N64 emulator enough to even run Goldeneye smoothly.
Hatta
Any recommendations? I recommend you buy a Saturn.
Tenorman
I've messed with Saturn emulators on the PC in the past and it was never really 100% smooth until I got a 2.6 Ghz AMD Phenom Quad core a few years back. The Wii doesn't have a prayer.
ComputerSpaceFan
I recommend you buy a Saturn. I know someone here is selling one for fifty bucks but unfortunately the games I want to play go for hundreds of dollars on eBay so I was thinking more on the emulator side of things. No biggie, I reckoned I'd ask. Edited April 11, 2013 by ComputerSpaceFan
WIZZARD77
Mod Chips are $35-$45 and you can get them from RacketBoy or Sega Style. I have one my self and they work great. Pick up a 4-in-1 cart while you're at it. It makes playing imports much easier.

If that's not an option, the best you can do is have a good PC and use SSF.
Gandor
Agree with modding a Saturn. If you decide to mod one, pay attention to the model. Some are easier to mod than others
Gandor
Forgot to mention that Sega Style sometimes has pre modded Saturns for sale.

I have 2 modded Saturns with the round power buttons. Is this a defective model or something?
HuckleCat
I have 2 modded Saturns with the round power buttons. Is this a defective model or something? Nono, you're fine. Like Gandor just ponted out, some models are easier to mod than others. The ones with the oval buttons are the easier ones. (Less wires to worry about.) Gandor
Check the guides on Sega style for the different models and how hard they are to mod
Taskmaster99
Go with a Saturn. I picked mine up for 30 bucks in box and got an action replay. All my imports play well.

Greg2600
Until someone miraculously develops an SD-card based solution, Saturn is a tough go in terms of not wanting to buy all the games. I agree with the others though, you have to play imports. Too many good games left in Japan. PS: Can't you run imports without modding using one of those Action Replay Plus cartridges? NinjaWarrior
Yes you can run imports with the Action Reply Cart
