Happy_Dude
...It starts doing crazy shit. I'll load a game and it will reset to a blank screen after a while. Sometimes I'll turn it on and the rumble pack will just vibrate and the screen is blank. It even does this with Audio CD's and I'm this close (holds fingers really close toghether) to throwing the damn thing out the window. It's been nice ever since I bought it 1 year ago and now it starts messing up for no reason. WTF? It always had problems with certain games (crazy taxi and worms Armagedon) but now it's crashing with every game. Grrrrrr. Just blowing off some steam. I'm leaving it unpluged for a while and going back to my trusty old Atari
Clint Thompson
If you've put a lot of time into playing games on the Dreamcast and/or you have a pretty healthy Dreamcast collection then I'd suggest buying a used one for $35 somewhere locally... Some things don't last forever I guess.... Try a different controller plugged into port 1 only? Clint Thompson
panamajoe
be a happy dude again by trying this: http://www.geocities.com/solidbat/dcreset.html if this doesn´t help you can try sticking matches (no joke) into the connector on the mainboard... it looks like this: http://www.scw-web.de/dreamcast/streichholzgr.jpg that´ll keep the connector pins closely attached to the mainboard. Hope it helps!
black dog
As I stated in a previous post I have had some similar problems with my DC. It is the only "modern" system I own, I like it ,but I'm certainly not impressed with it's durability. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the durability of the 2600-they don't make them like they used to. +-^CrossBow^-
Slightly off subject...but this was also a known problem..and the same fix for the Sega Saturn as well. If you ever happen to crack open a Saturn and look at it...you will notice that besides the boards being different in size...both the DC and the Saturn share almost the exact same Step Down transformers..and even the whole machine layouts are almost identical. Basically the DC uses the Saturn's internal layout but with more modern stuff in it of course...and smaller. Just interesting to see. However, at least the DC has a cooling fan in it..the Saturn didn't and actually used to heat up worse.
