Image theft again...best way to watermark or brand images?

The eBay image stealers are at it again! :x It looks like I'm going to have to watermark or brand all my images from my site, somehow. I want to put my logo across them to be obvious, but still not too obtrusive. I use Photoshop, but I'm no expert. What characteristics should I apply to my logo image and can I automate the process of inserting it onto each image I have somehow? :?

If they're directly linking to your pics just change the file name and upload

some explicit porn in its place ;) then notify ebay

if not.... yeah.... do the watermark thing, just keep trying different settings

until you find something that works. I don't know about automation though :ponder:

I'd love to do that but they are not directly linking to them.  They steal the image and then re-up it to eBay thru IPIX.  :x

Some websites have "no right click" JavaScript specifically to prevent you from doing just that (especially professional photographers). You might want to look into it. If they're stealing the images from your auctions on eBay and not from your personal site, make sure you complain to eBay that it's not only theft but fraud (i.e. the seller using the image other than you can't be selling the same thing).

I actually have that incorporated into my auctions as a little javascript thing, but not on my web site, YET! Thanks for the idea, it will deter some of them, but naturally they can get around that easily if they know what they are doing.

As an update, I did send the seller a polite email this morning, and I did notice that they took down the auction in question. However, before they closed it, they also deleted from the description where they said "I found the cover on the web for the picture only", AND they also changed the picture that they used in the auction to someone elses stolen image. Pretty slick, eh?

If a website has "no right click" all you have to do to steal pic is click on SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, INTERNET OPTIONS,SETTINGS, and VIEW FILES.

Bingo! All the pictures from that website. Just copy and paste them where you want.Pretty evil if you ask me.

:D
