(yes TV sound is turned up!) 2: console 2: black screen when switched on with cartridge inserted, power LED ok, so dead board? thanks.. As for the sound the power runs off a different circuit from the rest of the system, first check for +5V DC at either the output of the voltage regulator REG1 (Pin 1 of the LM78L05ACM) or TP6 on the circuit board. If you don't get that then the regulator may have blown. You could verify this by then checking for 9V DC on either capacitors C40 or C43 or the input pin of REG1 (Pin 8, LM78L05ACM). If you can't find the 9V it may indicate the one side of the power switch is open circuit. Blown regulators seem to be quite a common problem especially when the wrong power unit has been connected.
