It's a very good game as I suspected.

Much better than Video Pinball.

I played Video Pinball as a kid, I liked it but the game kept me remembering it was an Atari Video Pinball (even Atari logo was there!).

Midnight Magic makes me feel I'm playing Pinball.

WOW, Amazing coincidence!!!
I just got another 178,910! I should have played Video Pinball for the bonus.

I'm going to update this post and I think it's a good idea to keep me from posting to much bonus posts... At the end of the week, I'll make another post with the final bonus video pinbal score.

I love pinball as well. Before video games existed, my friends and I used to haunt the local pizzarias to play pinball. If you got a high score, you'd scratch your name and the score into the side of the machine. At Athens Pizza, they'd give you a small pizza if you managed to turn it over. Great stuff!

I'm curious as to why there were so few pinball games made for the atari. I only know of the two -- this one and Video Pinball. Are pinball games much more difficult to program than other games??

great score ... Liduario ... do you play games 24/7 ?

Oh, not that much.

After 30 hours you start to shiver, and it's very strange when you stop playing after very long sessions. You begin to see some flickering lights and you lose some control of yourself as when you're drunk.

Not a good experience and I don't play more than 8 hours for years... Not healthy.

Nowadays I like to play 4 to 10 games or so. It's rare I spend more than 2 hours but last night pinball got me.

For me, pinball is dangerous as speed chess, I can spend much more time than I wanted to.

I found that as frantic as toyshop trouble gets in the later rounds i put the paddle down in between rounds in the later rounds . Or else you start blankly staring at the screen as the toys go by as everything starts looking the same . Kind of like a deer in the headlights

Sweet... I was actually at home yesterday, and had access to my collection and console. I have both carts, and so I was able to squeeze in a few games. I'll post a picture of my score (around 180 or 190k, I think) as soon as I have time to download the pics from my camera.

Now I'm on the road again, and the emulator will have to do. It will be interesting to see how that affects my performance. I have a feeling that keyboard controls could be even better than the original hardware in this case. We'll see...

This game's flipper action feels like the old days when a Gottlieb pin had flippers that were starting to fade away. In those cases, if the ball didn't land just right on the flipper, it wouldn't go anywhere. I remember the Williams pins' flippers having a nice "snap" that either worked or didn't. In my experience, the Gottlieb flippers always seemed to die a slow death. And that makes this game feel nostalgically familiar.
