Charlie_
Why is it that I can set my SIO2SD speed to 99431.81 on my 65XE and it works great, but on my 130XE the fastest I can set it is 63920.45?
MrMartian
Check / remove the filter capacitors on the SIO rx / tx lines... It's noted on the sio2sd page...

Charlie_
Not sure what I'm looking at. In my 130xe all the caps are labeled in the 300s. What two do I remove? After I remove them I replace them with wire jumper? Roydea6
Remove all. C300x
Xuel
Never replace capacitors with wire jumpers! That will create a short circuit.
MrMartian
I typically only cut the two capacitors for the rx and tx lines... One of these days, I'll figure out good values to put in so you still get the little bit of protection they're supposed to provide, but the signals still get through all the way to 127k.. Xuel
Thanks. Glad I waited to cut them. It's OK to remove them in this case. Just don't put a wire in their place.
Marius
This extremely fast SIO rates do not work that good all the time, even with a modified atari or adapted OS. Some software has critical I/O timing due to some Interrupt-routines (like VBI) on the 'background' ... A lot of the programs I use have this problem, so I am not so interested in all this highspeed anymore. When I need speed I use a parallel-I/O based storage device like IDE+ or MyIDE. When I need sio I'm ok with standard speed, or happy speed max. And even with that last one, i only have zero issues with a real 1050 with happy board. IMHO there are also too many different (read: incompatible) command-sets floating around. When it comes to SIO i try to stick with real disk drive and from time to time I use my SIO2USB from Abbuc/Raf, and my cigar-box-design-Sio2IDE 3.3a.
