dudeslife
Number one for me is hands down Access Software. I recently picked up Beach-Head that I was missing to complete my war trilogy.
desiv
As far as time spent playing, it would have to be Online Systems, as I put a lot of time in the Ultima series. Honorable mentions to: -SSI with the Gold Box stuff... -Cinemaware with their collection -Psygnosis with their eye/ear candy. (Late 80's there..) desiv

carlsson
Many good ones, but one brand that always promised a high quality game obviously was Epyx. Very rarely I'd be disappointed by an Epyx release.

Very rarely I'd be disappointed by an Epyx release. I agree about Epyx. To me, they are probably #3 behind old school EA (before they were money grubbing corporate douchebags)
Cap5750
In addition to others that have been mentioned, I'll give a shout out to Infocom.

Aquaman
Most of my favourites have already been mentioned. Also till 1987 Elite made some nice games, after that they keep making poor conversions of arcade games! Accolade made some enjoyable games and don't forget Lucasfilm games with the likes of Maniac Mansion and Zack McKracken! cimerians
Epyx SSI Infocom Origin Sir Tech Lucasarts Games Sierra EA (Yes EA because back then they were a group of gaming people like us) Access software with Beach Head and Raid Over Moscow was cool too. Cosmi, Microprose and Synapse were good. Magnetic Scrolls made some pretty good text adventures like the Pawn. I loved them all...could hardly find a crappy dev\publisher. Magnetic Scolls did make some awesome games but they entered the picture after I was in college and I didn't have the money to play them back then. boxpressed
I'll say Broderbund because it hasn't been mentioned yet. I had started gaming on an IBM PC by 1983, and although Broderbund published only two games that I played heavily, they are hall of famers in my book: Lode Runner and The Ancient Art of War. CGA graphics never looked better!
