+cvga
Spent the weekend cleaning up my basement, which includes the game room and game storage area. More pictures to come later but thought you might be interested in seeing these three boxes that I saved from the past... Now I know why Thin Ice and Thunder Castle are two of the five boxes that I still need to get to 125!
+intvsteve
Cool. Must be from the "baggie" days. Have seen these several times but always assumed it was just done ad hoc rather than as an actual retail thing.

+JasonlikesINTV
Were they possibly returns/open box items that were repacked in these?
+cvga
Were they possibly returns/open box items that were repacked in these? Exactly. They would put them in those generic 'software' boxes and sit them out at the same price as the new undamaged games. I'm pretty cetain I picked these up at a substantial discount near the end of their days carrying the Intellivision.
bikeguychicago
Those boxes were for the 'floor model' games, as they used actual boxes for the displays. You they took your little ticket to video game prison (otherwise known as the cage) in exchange for your game. If they had enough stock of the game, you got the real game box. If not, you got these.
