Rybags
1st person shooter is almost the same thing. Examples include Star Raiders, Rescue on Fractalus and The Eidelon. 3rd person shooter, your character is visible onscreen. Usually the perspective is as if a camera is slightly above and behind the character. Examples exist here such as Stealth (working title Landscape) and Space Harrier. Of course there's always the purist view on both these in that true FPS/3PS games use realistic 3D rendering algorithms for some/most of the background objects at the least which practically speaking rules all those out except RoF and Eidelon. +MrFish
The 3D games I usually play can run in either mode. I personally prefer 3rd person.

Mathy
Hello guys Midi-Maze could be considered a 3rd person shooter. BTW Midi-Maze is very popular at European Atari Meetings since HARdwareDoc released his MIDI-interface. Sincerely Mathy
