Aking
Download g2f (Graph2font) load the png, save as .mic great, thank you but i need .pic atari 8 file output...
Tezz
Don't worry about the file extension, the format you will need is .mic (micro painter) format IIRC the screen width should be 40 bytes so g2f's default "Normal" width will be correct. +CharlieChaplin
Well, I do not know of any program on the PC or A8 that does exactly what you want, converting a .PNG picture into compressed Koala / Micro-Illustrator format... But there are some work-arounds that will get you there in several steps... (until there is a better and faster program on the PC available someday)... 1) save as .PNG on the PC, import to G2F, set/reduce the colours and save as .MIC (uncompressed 62 sector format), copy or transfer the MIC to the A8 and convert it into compressed Koala/Micro-Illustrator 2) save as PNG on the PC, import to AIS (Atari Interlace Studio), set/reduce the colours and save as MIC, copy or transfer the MIC to the A8 and convert it into compressed Koala/Micro-Illustrator 3) save as GIF87a on the PC, copy or transfer the GIF to the A8, use e.g. Jview (by Jeff Potter) to convert it into greyscale MIC, use another converter to set the colours and to compress to Koala format 4) save as JPG on the PC, copy or transfer the JPG to the A8, use e.g. A8JPEG by Raphael Espino to convert it into greyscale MIC, use another converter to set the colours and to compress to Koala format Think there are several other ways, but as said before, I do not know of a direct way to convert PNG into PIC in one go... -Andreas Koch. Tezz
Koala/Micro-Illustrator uses a compressed format? hmm, I thought they both used uncompressed .mic
+CharlieChaplin
Yes, Koala / Micro-illustrator (Atari Artist and some others) used compression by default. But the algorythm allowed for a) non-compressed, b) vertical compressed and c) horizontal compressed. Maybe someone with more knowledge can give some details about Koala / Micro-Illustrator... http://www.ataripreservation.org/websites/freddy.offenga/megazine/ISSUE7-KOALA.html -Andreas Koch.
