My Atari 2600 junior is faulty it resets every second.

Hi

 

My Atari 2600 junior reset its self once every second, so you can play a game for half a second before it reset again.

 

I have checked the reset button and it is not stuck down.

 

Has anybody ever had this problem?

 

Anyway to fix it?

Have you tried a replacement PSU?

It might be a bad cap somewhere, or the 5V power regulator inside that is dying (dubious, as it's more usually a total loss of power that happen, but it's one know issue on the 2600)

Yes it still has the same problem with another PSU.

 

If you tap the reset button sometimes you can play for 3 seconds before it resets again.

 

I open the console up today to see how the reset button works, its like a ribbon cable but I could find no way if any dirt or something was causing the problem.

 

I open up the Atari today to have a look inside

ooh yeah, it's JR. Try sliding a bit of paper between the ribbons maybe? Those buttons are just plain crap in true Atari fashion.

Did you fix it? I’m going into a full cap replacement for the same issue.
