EamonShoot
Can any of you fine folk point me in the right direction as to where I can download a copy of STOS Basic Version 2.6 (i.e the version that will run on my STE) I already have a copy of the original version (2.3 I think) but this crashes with 2 bombs when I try and run it. I have found the STOS Compiler / update files online, but this requires you to have a working copy of STOS running before you can update it! I have seen links to the clickteam site, but the link is no longer valid and I can't find the files on their site anywhere. If anyone could send / post the relvant files, unarchived I would be extremely grateful. Many thanks for your help
MrMaddog
This is the patch that'll make it work with all TOS versions... http://web.archive.org/web/20070929135139/http://www.btinternet.com/~AnthonyJ/Atari/stos/basic207.html There's also STOS Time Tunnel but it's still under construction and the downloads aren't available, which is a shame... GadgetUK
Thanks for that link! Awesome stuff! I didn't know this had been fixed already - there's a project that Exxos and PP are looking at over on atari-forum to do the same thing (I think?), to correct the 8 entry fixed list. If i try steem, the only thing i get are two bombs If you tried to use the TOS 2.06 rom then STOS won't work. You either need 1.62 or lower, or look for STOS fixer which patches it up to use any TOS version. Same applies for STOS based games... ParanoidLittleMan
Here are infos by Exxos about new development: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=26237 About new STOS fixer with DL : http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=26228#p249132 The idea was to not use ROM tables at all, but universal input reading code. And in latest compiler sources is visible that Lionet (man who coded STOS) wanted same. But he made some errors in joystick read part, so it was never released. Luckily, new code is short enough to fit in space of even oldest STOS compiles (with only 3 TOS v. tables). After fixing, it works in all TOS versions, so may work even on Falcon and TT - but you need to turn caches off, run Backward or similar before ..
