+DarkLord
Jookie (of Satandisk and Ultrasatan fame) has started this thread over at Atari Forum: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=26088 Looks very interesting!
GadgetUK
Looks great, I just dont see the point to it though. It's fine if you don't have an Ultra Satan, a HxC and a NetUSBee but efffectively brings nothing more to the table. Besides which there's mileage in having seperate components then you don't have a single failure point.
+Gemintronic
Yeah. I have none of those. I actually sold off an ST that did not come with an internal FDD. This would have been a reason to keep it.

Goochman
Anyone have an idea what the initial price might be for this?
galax
Anyone have an idea what the initial price might be for this? A few months ago he estimated 65 Euros plus the cost of the Raspberry Pi which is about half that again. Looks great, I just dont see the point to it though. It's fine if you don't have an Ultra Satan, a HxC and a NetUSBee but efffectively brings nothing more to the table. Besides which there's mileage in having seperate components then you don't have a single failure point. It's a cheaper, more compact, elegant solution for those that haven't already got all three floppy/HD/network interfaces. Should offer much higher network speeds too. The single point of failure is a $30 Raspberry Pi. A lot more flexibility about disk formats, and the possibility of network access to the ST's drive; copy or backup stuff remotely without touching the device. He's also considered tapping into the keyboard interface, to allow USB Mice and Keyboards to appear to the ST as native keyboards, no drivers etc. I think many people will find an excuse to relegate their existing devices to the second machine or something, at that price and with the possible features it offers it will be hard to resist. As I mentioned on the other forum, if the Pi can read the ST's keyboard and mouse, and can output its own sound and video, emulating the whole machine in and ST box with HDMI out would just be a matter of software. The ST is relegated to just being a USB power supply, keyboard, and mouse interrface. Horrible idea really, although it would be kind of cool to be able to rescue an old broken 520ST from the garbage and convert it to a 1080p TT or Falcon without causing any damage to the machine.
