Romko343
Hello, I am a current user of my TI-99 system and in the past I was able to transfer many files from my mac to my TI using PC99.. I finally decided to go for it again and all of a sudden the RS232 port is being skipped and when I try to run TELCO on the PC99 side, it stays stuck at a GREEN SCREEN and does not go any forward.. If someone has a MAC and PC99 set up, please let me know what parameters I am to put in the RS232 category under PC99 config.. Also, someone please let me know their dosbox configuration as I have a feeling this is the reason why its not working right. I have PC99 set up as 1 RS232 with it being COM 1 and using COM 1's address and IRQ.. but still it says its being skipped or can't connect to it.. How do I know on my mac pro which is com 1?? I have 3 USB ports on back and two on the front.. This is really annoying and also tried the same on MESS and MESS can't communicate with the RS232 port as well. Any and ALL help would be appreciated.. because I feel like throwing my systems out the window and destroying them if I can't get this done.. Yes, I have a very low tolerance for FAILURE. I wish I could help. In the past I tried loading Telco with emulators, even on a real TI with a Nano-PEB and always got a big fat nothing for my trouble. Only with a real TI does it seem to want to work. Hopefully someone can help you out. GOOD LUCK!
+mizapf
This is really annoying and also tried the same on MESS and MESS can't communicate with the RS232 port as well. What MESS version are you using? MESS can use the serial port, but only with an additional tool that I wrote (TIImageTool). I use a serial connection between MESS and my real Geneve and it works pretty well, also with TELCO.

That is because Telco like other TI terminal ports use direct access to the serial card without using the dsr, they access the serial port tms chip directly via cru bits, and as such don't work on emulators or nano-peb. How are you running PC99 on your mac? It's a DOS program. Are you using DOSBOX? Greg

Romko343
Also, I was wondering if someone has an extra TI RS232 cable ? I took a look at my cable and it looks as if maybe one of the pins is bent a bit.. I just though I'd bring that up also.
+arcadeshopper
I am using DOSBOX.. DOSBOX has a configuration file where you tell it what USB rs232 adapter to use for which com port.. that needs to be set up correctly. something on the order of this in your dosbox.conf file serial1=directserial realport:ttyUSB0 I have no way of knowing what the realport is on a mac as I don't have one. That'd be what I would use for USB0 on my Linux box.. and mac uses BSD unix which is the same driver style as linux Greg

I'd think any straight through PC cable would work. 9-25pin PC style Greg
Romko343
I'd think any straight through PC cable would work. 9-25pin PC style Greg No, the cable is different.. less pins on it. a regular PC serial cable has 25 pins. TI I think has 7 or 9 and one on the bottom. Or maybe PC99 isn't recommended to run on a modern fast machine?

Romko343
On the 2010 Mac Pro its all USB ports.. 3 on the back and two on the front.. The RS232 cable I have is a TI CABLE.. one end connected to the RS232 card on the TI, the other end is connected to a DB-25 female.. and there is a DB-9 female which is connected to the 9-pin male USB-Serial... with that end being a USB - on one of the Mac Pro's USB PORTS.. Some new developements.. I got it to work, however I am seeing PC99 using TELCO sometimes not completing transfers.. in other words, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I am suspecting a bad pin possibly on my RS232 cable. http://www.mainbyte.com/ti99/hardware/cables/modem_cable.htmlyour rs232 port on the mac is 9pin or 25 pin.. pinout for that would require more information on what usb to rs232 adapter you have..
