The Official NEO-GEO Thread!

Recommended Posts

I got the controller. It's okay, I guess. The biggest surprise is that it came with a male USB-C to female USB-A cable that is like an inch and a half long. WTF am I supposed to use this useless thing for?

The clicky stick is different. It has a square gate instead of a circular gate and the dead zone seems larger than on my real Neo Geo CD controller. The C button is also somewhat imperfect, as it is possible to push the button without pushing it far enough for it to engage, so when I tested it on Castlevania sometimes I'd press the button and just not attack.

It wouldn't be 8BitDo without some level of disappointment and/or stuff that doesn't work properly, and this time the C button is the biggest annoyance. As long as I remember to smash to smash the button hard enough it works. It worked with everything that I tested it with on PC, so the only thing left to test it on is the MiSTer.

I always find this annoying when those sorts of wires are supplied. I get L shape ports to move it away from tight spaces etc, but what is that going to do for range? Nothing.

The sticky buttons would really get me, especially for a system like the neo geo, pounding buttons at the arcade might be one thing but at home it should be more chill than that!

On a similar note, I've still got my consoles but looking to play games on my emulation pc more often than not, I'm planning on using original controllers, does anyone have any recommended usb adapters for original neo geo controllers they have tried and tested?

Hi WRCN,

Great to see you back on with us sharing more of your Neo-Geo AES collection bro. The Last Blade 1 & 2 for the AES still looks great and well taken care of by you. I remember having fun conversations and looking together to find the perfect condition ones off Ebay for you to have. Still enjoy helping you as much as I can bro. Thank you for stopping by to share the photos of them again. :)

Hi guys

A word from FULLSETT.

Quick heads up: while the MVS collectors edition is already sold out, there are still AES collectors editions left. If you want your actual shirt and sock sizes to be considered instead of an "average" size, now is the time

Hi guys,

Were back with our pal @Steril707 on more on what he has to say for us to be aware. :)

 ·

Since there seems to be some confusion about my two projects, I guess I need to clarify a few points here...

"Hyperblaster" (the shmup game) is now solely on the Neo Geo, "Krogharr" (the barbarian slasher game) is (still) solely on OCS Amiga.

That doesn't mean there won't be any other versions in the future, but I am only one person, and I think I need to finish up both games first off before thinking about ports to other platforms.

First off, I wanted to create a version of Hyperblaster for the A1200 and Neo geo at the same time, but then I noticed that this, while technically possible with my engine, would not produce the best possible result. So I ditched that idea, and now it's developed for the Neo Geo only. Good news is, I can now fully take advantage of that hardware to create something really nice with it.

If some people are wondering about "Krogharr" at the moment, I had to take a bit of a creative break on that one. I took in all of the feedback I got from the demo, and decided I need to get away a bit from the game and rethink the gameplay a bit.

For that, I play a lot of side scrolling fighting games and brawlers now for inspiration at the moment...

Fortunately I have more than one active project, so I can be productive all the time, and that effort goes into Hyperblaster for the Neo Geo right right at the moment.

Hopefully that clears things up, if you have any further questions just ask...

May be an image of video games and text

Dear AtariAge members and guest,

The Official NEO-GEO Thread on Atariage.com has just reached 2,000,000 views and continues to grow for the community to benefit and enjoy even after celebrating its 10th Anniversary. It's been amazing in which this thread help introduced Neo-Geo to the Atariage.com forums at a time when the Neo-Geo consoles and it's library of titles was hardly ever discussed or even mention compared to other popular units and companies that continuously are mentioned throughout the site.

As a dedicated and long time buff of the Neo-Geo and SNK, I wanted to start a thread for it in order to interest and help contribute for others to participate. It wasn't going to be a simple task since the Neo-Geo is a niche market to begin with while the vast majority on here don't possess the consoles or the games. So it was going to be an uphill challenge to try to make this successful.

But thankfully, it worked. We as a gaming group were able to make this successful on the AtariAge forums for all to come by, see, and post away with us to discuss and view our Neo-Geo and SNK related material that we have to offer. It's been an amazing ride and wish to thank you all for making it possible. Without your help, The Official NEO-GEO Thread wouldn't have made it to where it is today.

I also like to give a special thanks to Albert Yarusso, the administrator of AtariAge.com for allowing me to create the Neo-Geo thread and his continued support for what it offers to help this gaming forum and the thread to expand in areas that we thought wasn't imaginable.  Thank you Albert. If it wasn't for you to give me permission to let this thread grow, we wouldn't be where we are today.

As always fellas. Keep up the great work, and always looking forward on seeing you on with us doing what you do best. Let's continue onward, and wishing you all the greatest and thank once anew on making The Official NEO-GEO Thread a success. :)

Sincerely,

Charlie Cat

Anthony...

I'm a bit late to the party, but I'd also like to thank you Anthony for keeping the Neo-Geo scene alive. Congratulations on the 2M views and 10 years mark, that's an impressive achievement! :)

Now onto the 10M views during the next decade? I mean, with all the new indie or homebrew games coming these days for the system, the Neo Geo has arguably more life today than 10 years ago! :)

I'd like to put out a little warning regarding the "Interest Check: Pre-made upgraded 161-in-1 multicarts" posted by rewrite (Ryan) on both KLOV and the Arcade Projects forums. A lot of people went in on this, which for those that do not know is a project to take the cheap(ish) AliExpress 161-in-1 Neo Geo multicart and modify it by way of adding a daughterboard and additional ROMs to have it include the entire collection on the one cart. It was posted here last year and that is what led me to the path to reach out to Ryan and declare interest.

If it makes you feel any better you're not the only one that got sucked into that. I'm considering selling my spot at this point too.

Sold mine for less than half the cost of the cartridge I sent him. The buyer promises to pay me the other half should the project continue, but I doubt it. The guy took off. Well, at least I got some money back....better than none of it.
