Looks like a game in the past called "In The Hunt".

If the developer is serious about publishing it, let's hope Neobitz takes care of the publishing else more home carts will be sacced.

Hi guys,

Here's something interesting to watch. A Youtube subscriber by the name of "NeoHomeBrew" is developing a homebrew submarine shooter for the Neo-Geo. The graphics look nice so far, and the developer is making progress with it. Check it out. he has 4 videos of them so far!

Every time I go to the store, I see a NEO GEO on sale there for $150. What really bugs me is that they expect to sell that at that price with no games coming with it. I don't have one, and I want this one. I'm trying not to buy it.

That's not a bad price with all the hook ups. The Neo Geo has never been cheap and probably never will be.

Hi,

At $150 and you can purchase it at a store without S&H is well worth it. The cheapest nowadays goes for over $200 and if you buy it from an overseas seller from Japan, the shipping is high! I say go for it! Because at that price, I would!

BUT, is it an AES, CD, CDZ, NGX? Because no particular version was mentioned!

How much did you pay for it? Viewpoint seems to fluctuate in price.

This was from an auction on Ebay that went on for the usual 6 days without the "buy it now" feature. It went for $192.

I think I remember seeing AES on it. Is there that much of a difference?

You're lucky to get it for slightly above $200, this is holiday plus he's selling all of his collection at once. I wanted to get a few games from him (including PC-Engine and other systems) but he insisted having Paypal account from the bidder. Never understood why people would rather get fleeced by eBay/Paypal. A few games could've fetched far more if he allowed bidders like me, oh well.

Did you see this item?

Good god, I have a few and would love to have a few more but at this price?

Good question,

Yes a big difference! The AES stands for "Advanced Entertainment System", is a console that plays the home cartridges for the Neo-Geo platform! The MVS stands for "Multi Video System" and that plays the arcade cartridge in the arcade! That option can be played at home now thanks to the dedicated community on the neo-geo.com forums. That united is called the CMVS meaning "Consolized Multi Video System"

The Neo-Geo CD is the CD based system that plays Neo-Geo games on CD form and those are cheaper than the AES. Its a single speed unit, so its slow to load. The CDZ is the same when playing the CD games, but has a double speed engine inside!

If you saw an AES system that has the hookups and controller for $150 that works, please take advantage on buying it! Its rare to find a working one at that price and will only gets harder as time continues!

Hope this helps!

I saw that Gamefan magazine went for $500+ WHAT ARE PEOPLE THINKING!!!

If I were to take the plunge to drop the money for a modded AES, are there decent games in the $50-100 price range, or is everything worth playing $300+?

Off the top of my head, I'd want to get Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury 2, Fatal Fury Special, Magician Lord, Crossed Swords, Baseball Stars, and Windjammers. Reasonable?

Fatal Fury 1, 2, and special are less than $50 if you get them in Japamese. Magician Lond (English) is less than $100. Baseball Stars is is slightly over $100. Crossed Swords is around the $95 mark. Windjammers is around $400-$500.

Here's a seller from Ebay that has new, English Neo-Geo AES games for sale. Most are under $100 and few are near the $200 mark!

Hope this helps! :)

This was also a big savings as well The cheapest "buy it now" JPN Viewpoint goes for $553.11 and $30.71 S&H for a total of $583.82. The auction that I won was $192.50 and $20.00 S&H for a total of $212.50. The savings came to $371.32. Well worth waiting for a regular auction instead of the insane asking prices just to buy a game instantly on Ebay!

I was looking at the list of games for it on Digital Press. Nothing that caught my eye or say "Hey, I wonder what this is like." But 9 different King of Fighters games? Did they need one every year until 2003?

What is a reasonable price for a Japanese AES console? $250?

Here are two auctions from an Ebay seller by the name of "hit-japan" I've done business with him in the past many times and the seller has the top rated ribbon for his business practice! Someone you can trust.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEO-GEO-AES-Neogeo-Console-System-Serial-183916-Tested-JAPAN-Game-SNK-2027-/311169165736?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item487320a9a8

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEO-GEO-Neogeo-AES-Console-System-NEO-0-SNK-Serial-178570-Tested-JAPAN-Game-2745-/301227507443?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item46228efef3

Both are at $230 plus $65 EMS shipping. Unfortunately, shipping video game consoles from Japan are pricey! The good news is that the seller as a best offer option and if you give him an acceptable offer, you can make a good deal!

The first link is with the pro-controller (which I prefer) and the unit serial number is 183916.

The second link has the standard controller and the unit serial number is 178570.

The serial numbers are based on the different motherboard designs as the system progressed during its life span. I personally enjoy the lower serial number consoles because they contain daughterboards to enhance the video outout. But these systems like all others are fine!

If you like any further assistance, please let me know and I'll be glad to help! ;-)

I personally have all of the King of Fighters in Japanese for the AES starting from 94-03 including KOF Quiz. If you like to collect them, they are great to have in your Neo-Geo library. However, it depends on your budget. If you going the inexpensive route, go with the Japanese versions. The English ones are much more expensive to acquire! But as the series continued the prices went higher on both versions!
