Clock
I now own a copy of BATTLEZONE and am to say the least a tad dissapointed. I understand that vector graphics isn't Atari's strong point, but this game has the geometric objects missing, removing all strategy. So is ROBOT TANK any better? Or is there an alternative? smf_4ever
I personally love Robot Tank.. that is one game I can just plug in and have hours of play (like Dragster...but without having to hit the damn reset every 6 sec or so..)
NE146
Hmm.. it's kind of a toss-up. Personally I love Battlezone.. but then again I also love how Robot Tank gives you an "objective" (to destroy 12 squadruns of 12 tanks). And it also changes the weather conditions on you etc. Personally, I think you need both in your collection (naturally)
Goochman
Robot Tank kicks Battlezones turret if you ask me
djdsl
robot tank is much better. the graphics, sound, better instrument panel, better physics. Plus RT gives the feel of time passing and weather patterns that make for better gameplay. 2600 Battlezone's first flaw was trying to emulate vector graphics. Godzilla
? 2600 battlezone doesnt try to emulate the vector graphics at all. they toally went raster. ?
djdsl
oops.. (pulls boot form mouf) i meant that 2600s flaw was in porting a game whos best feature was its 3d looking vector graphics - and not being able to pull That off.
RCorcoran
If you haven't listened to the March RetroGaming Radio, Shane interviews former Activision Co-Founder and Atari VCS coder Alan Miller. One of the topics in the interview is Robot Tank Check it out here: http://www.retrogamingradio.com/
D.Yancey
My vote goes to Robotank of course! The effects when your tank is destroyed is SOOOO COOOOL! Anyone have any good hints or strategy on how to play when you reach about 72 tanks destroyed? It seems terribly difficult to me at this juncture! OT but you can start a new game by tapping the stick to the right. That game made me cry when I first played it. I'M NOT KIDDING! Too hard (I got better.)
