Brian R.
Is there a video anywhere that shows how this game looks? I'm curious.

Brian R.
Thanks. Any requirements for this game? Any systems it won't run on, or memory requirements?
tep392
It will run on any A8 computer with at least 48k RAM. Whoever made that video is not using the current release version of the game. There is a small bug in that version that cancels the background sound when a blue ghost is eaten. It's fixed in the shipping version of the game.
Brian R.
Ah, so it won't run on an unexpanded 600XL or 400. I guess it would run on my 800XL and XEGS. I'm intrigued, but I've always loved the standard Pac-Man game (on the 5200 and the computers). Back in the day I played it a ton on my 600XL (that and Star Wars Arcade, the only games I had). tep392
It will run fine on your 800XL and XEGS. I also run it on my 48k 400. This one is a lot more faithful to the arcade than the Atari version. Speeds and monster AI are identical to the arcade version. You don't see it in this video but it also has the intermissions and the atract screen animation. There is definately a nostalgic charm to the original Atari version though. I was very impressed by it when it was first released. It was a must have game for my 400.
SIO2
I will buy one of the clear ones.

Brian R.
Thanks for the video. My interest is piqued. Why does this need more than 16k of ram, when PacMan and Ms Pac don't?
tep392
It's about the size of the code. Pac-man is an 8k ROM. Ms. Pac-man is a 16K ROM. Mine uses about 24k of ROM. The reason I need more RAM is because the carts I use only bank in 8K at a time. I have to copy some of the code into RAM where it is executed. And the reason I'm using the cart that I am is because it's easy to get in quantity and it allowed me to have the high score save feature. edit: One cart left.
Brian R.
I'll take the last one. PM me. Thanks. P.S. Just how many versions of Pac-Man do I need...
tep392
Last cart sold to Brian R. I do make more carts periodically as requests come in, so please let me know if you are interested in a cart and I'll let you know when more are available. 4 carts available as of 19-Aug-2014
Brian R.
The game is GREAT. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes PacMan and has an Atari computer to play it. When the chance arrives, get one.
SIO2
Got my cart yesterday. It is awesome! I'm not in Billy Mitchell territory yet but, did manage to post a respectable six digit high score to my new cart. That high score feature is great. Thanks. Brian R.
I've never been big on the need for saving high scores. I'll just play the game. But I have to admit now that I have a game with a high score save feature, I do like it. It gives me something to shoot for each time I play.
