MYDOS Command Processor

Hi 130XE, only news I have to report is that according to the source code INIT.COM already has in place a D1:CP.SYS copy function so it must be breaking between the DOS.SYS file copy and CP.SYS copy when it does work that far - just why I haven't a clue yet, we'll get there.

Hello, 1050.

I very appreciate the fact that the idea of CP for MYDOS has engage yoy.

Now, times have changed and I can't be in near space.

"All work and no joy make Jack a dull boy..."

Nothing more.

As far as it's concearned copying CP.SYS to new disk I think that this prog was the same as in AtarDOS CP.SYS and not fully acceptable.

And thank yoy.

I really remember the times when MyDOS rules (nothing but compartibility with ATARY)

  • 1 year later...

Can't believe it's been a year and all I've gotten done is re-install windows and that still needs done again. Must try to find time for this and getting my atari alive again, without my 8-bit printer I'm worthless as I seem to have to have hard copy for serious work to write on, making notes as I go such that my train of thought doesn't derail when the power gets cut off by a remote storm for example. Keeping such information in a new folder on a new PC system is beyond me as I'm doing good to find my old information.

To answer the question, no. I know of no CP tool for MyDOS other than what you have offered here in this very thread before 130XE. And it appears to need some kind of help that I'm not able to give it for the foreseeable future. There is this menu driven copy program which I find useful:

Glad to hear you 1050!

Bad luck!

They never beleived in command line I see!

Nevertheless I could install this shit into IDEPlus 2.0.

Two days of thinking and thousands steps of work.

And it's very dirty and quirky of course.

The result is lamentable.

It can start programs, but it kills own loading programs area.

For example AC.COM lost it's keyboard control.

The IDEA of command line in MYDOS is great nevertheless!

  • 4 weeks later...

Today after almost a year of trying... I launched InterLISP65 on IDE+2.0

Russian programmers names this stage of investigating as 'Dancing with Timbrel'. :)

At first I meet some problems with DOSes.

Someone uses RAM under ROM someone uses too much z-space etc.

Really LISP loads as DUP.SYS, using all available memory. Smth. like Housekeeping mode.

Anyway I needed tiny plain dos . But It MUST have a directories! It's programmers matter.

Thus MYDOS!

But LISP can't be loaded!

Next step MYDOSCP!

It's only DOS.SYS with tiny CP.

Is it possible?

I'll through away all steps of investigating.

And HowTo's

1. Make 65535sec, 256bps bootable partition on real HW. or 16mb MyDOS image in famous MkeAtr (Many thanks to author!)

2. Initialize it (after configuring it like a large disk formatting with /N etc.)

3. Setup it like DOS driven dish with 'H' MYDOS 2.50! function

4. (Now you have DOS.SYS and DUP.SYS on disk)

5. Boot another disk with TomsNavigator

6. Copy cp.sys and init.com on target disk

7. Boot TN disk again and run INIT.COM from MYDOSCP disk.

Select "Save DOS Files" and Quit from this prog.

(If D1 HW blinking then you are refresh DOS.SYS and DUP.SYS on D1:)

It places DOS.SYS and CP.SYS on disk. (Really this beast don't copy CP.SYS, but patches DOS.SYS)

(It's very quircky, but anyway it patches DOS.SYS ON DISK NO1!!! for searching CP..SYS instead of DUP.SYS)

(Yoy may use extended memory as you wish. RAMDISK or not (LISP can't use extended mem, but you can!))

You can delete DUP.sys or not. No mean. You can run it anyway. and use all MyDOS possibilityes

Then you launch system and see MyDOS CP.

LISP2.5 works without any drivers! It's memory condition!
