Mclaneinc
I like it but not the square non tumbling 'rocks', I'd imagine there's a good reason they don't tumble for technical needs but they just look a bit cheesy, otherwise its looks good fun.. peteym5
There will be another set of beta tests of the latest version of Megaoids 2016 on real hardware. The game is still open for additional changes. What is stopping it from doing any good rock tumbling is the intention to have the game run a minimal Atari 400/800 or 600xl with only 16K RAM. Also leaves the option open to have the game ported to run on the Atari 5200. So it is more of a memory limitation thing. Since the game still has not gone to cartridge yet, it is still open to updating, improvements, and modification. Mclaneinc
Thanks for the answer Petey, nice idea to keep it portable, maybe an expanded version depending on sales?
peteym5
Here is an updated video showing the update made to the shape of the rocks and how the different levels can have different color schemes. There is a little pause from the shooting at the start of the video showing how smooth the space ship movement had been done for this game.
peteym5
Just to make it clear, the version of Megaoids currently available can use the Atari 2600 Indy 500 Driving Controller. You can select the option on the title screen. It will work with Joystick, Paddles, Driving Controller, or Keyboard. It will work with the ST trackball as long as it uses Gray Code. That is why the option is labels "TRACKBALL/DRIVING" If you really want to play this game with a trackball that has joystick mode, that will work also. Since the game had been a slow seller basically because there are hundreds of different version of Asteroids out there, there are only a hand full of cartridges out there right now. I had sent Video61 an update with the Driving Controller and CX-80 trackball as two different options.
