starwindz
What's this? 'Atari 800 - Best Gamepack' is All-In-One Gamepack includes best Atari 8-bit games, screenshots, adverts, covers, manuals and high scores spreadsheet. I always wanted to make some kind of the game launcher for Atari 8-Bit computer! My main goal was to write a total package which has a subset of best games from the "huge" and "chaotic" set of gamebase and atarimania database. So here it is 'Atari 800 - Best Gamepack'. This version is a first release and so I'd be grateful if you could try it out for me and report any comments and bugs you find, or even just let me know what you think of it. Any bugs which are found and reported will be posted on the official blog, or you can post them this topic if you like. For more information, please visit to the official blog. If you want to download it now, you can get it from here.(418MB) Thank you. starwindz Edited May 5, 2014 by starwindz
Mclaneinc
Very nice indeed, good selection of games but you have not detailed where the temp place is you use to extract the 2 disk games like AE so to be able to browse to the second disk.. Remember APDATA is hidden to normal users so if its been stored in Local/temp then you can't normally browse to it until you set windows to show the dir. That aside its a really nice front end (based upon Gamebase) easy to use and a quality selection of games. Thank you. Edit: Found the temp directory being used, its inside the Emul/Altirra dir where this games pack is setup. You might get a word of Phaeron for including Altirra directly with the release? Mclaneinc
Error trying to load Crossfire...Odd looking variable there? And a thought, does this use any part of Gamebase code wise? I only ask as if it did you would need Gamebase installed previous to trying to run this as gamebase installs a few files that don't make it portable. Lastly, Phaerons excellent internal Bios's are great but their may be the odd game that needs the original bios's although you may be lucky, I've only seen one item in a long while not work under the interal bios's. starwindz
Thank you. Mclaneinc. Crossfire bug will be fixed and license clarification is also included to the next version. So I have temporarily removed the download link of version 1.0.

Mclaneinc
Yes, he or she is going for a cream of the crop collection, there's always Mark Hardnman's Atari800 Gamebase which I have to say is excellent and packed with titles but its also nice to have a selection of the best to choose from. Mclaneinc
Looks great, as said, nice little collection, can't see any basic games so far, did you not add them? Anyway, well done for this, its perfect for the people looking for the cream of the crop games..
Reaperman
At 720p I can't reach the option menu. I see pretty much every game I've looked for. I noticed Dungeon Lords didn't make the cut, but for all I know that wasn't a popular game. Edited May 17, 2014 by Reaperman
starwindz
@All It's my pleasure. I just would like to make some kind of all-in-one compilation for old-and-new Atari 800 gamers. And version 1.02 is now being developed to fix some problems and add new games. @Mclaneinc Yes, any BASIC games was not included in this version. Could you please recommend the best BASIC games and let me know where I can download them? @Reaperman Could you please let me know your screen resolution or show me the screenshot of your issue? And 'Dungeon Lords' will be added in the next version.
+Adam+
Nice collection, starwindz , but some important games from the last few years are missing - for example: Space Harrier, His Dark Majesty, Bomb Jack, Callisto, Ridiculous Reality (but please get the final version, not the version from Atarimania), Knight Lore etc.
RickR
Thanks, this is awesome. I love how you made the emulator an option. Very well done indeed.

Yes, I will try to add all games you mentioned to the next version. I have found Ridiculous Reality in your site, but where can I find the latest version of other games? Reaperman
@Reaperman Could you please let me know your screen resolution or show me the screenshot of your issue? And 'Dungeon Lords' will be added in the next version. Sure I'm at 1280x720 on both of my main computers (one because it's a netbook, the other because my projector probably needs to be upgraded to something better). What I see is below. Often when I'm too low-res, I can sneak in enough of a move/resize to scroll around and get to everything. For all I know there isn't much I'm missing in the 'options' section. I'm just curious, I suppose. I can get to enough to actually play the games just fine. Edited May 18, 2014 by Reaperman
+Adam+
Thank you. Yes, I will try to add all games you mentioned to the next version. I have found Ridiculous Reality in your site, but where can I find the latest version of other games? I think all those games are there (on Atarimania) in the last version (except RR). But generally for newer games I would suggest Fandal's site, it's more up-to-date and complete. Edited May 18, 2014 by +Adam+

Mclaneinc
@Starwinz, does this need the Gamebase 3 engine to be installed for it to work, I already have it installed so I can't tell. Just in case people not familiar with Gamebase know if its needed or not. For actual gamebases it MUST be installed as gamebase as yet isn't stand alone.
starwindz
@Mclaneinc Gamepack does not need gamebase engine files.(DLL and ActiveX). Gamepack directly reads and writes the gamebase mdb file without any other dll files. The policy of gamepack is all-in-one.
