Rarity question about the Sega SC-3000 computer...

Hardware/software that "only sold in Japan" usually goes high because only a handful of people are picking them up in Japan and selling them on ebay.
If you can read Japanese you can probably pick it up on a Japanese auction site much cheaper.

That's the thing-as CatPix alluded to, it was sold in France as well. And also in other European countries, plus Oceania. I really wish that there was at least one Japanese auction site that was English-friendly, because I don't know a word of Japanese. :(

Note that Google Translate is your friend on the Japanese sites. . .it can mangle things somewhat, but I can usually reassemble the results to get something that makes sense. Yahoo! Japan has a company that does buying services for foreigners since most sellers won't ship outside Japan. Their rates are generally reasonable too--Buyee is their name. I've used them quite successfully in the past.
