ataridave
I've read that in the countries were it was released, that the Sega SC-3000 sold very well. So how come there's one on Ebay for $700.00 right now? Is it just Ebay, or is the Japanese SC-3000 really rare enough to justify a price that high? JamesD
Hardware/software that "only sold in Japan" usually goes high because only a handful of people are picking them up in Japan and selling them on ebay.If you can read Japanese you can probably pick it up on a Japanese auction site much cheaper.
CatPix
700 is too much. The Sega SC-3000 was available in France under the Yeno and Sega brands; prices today are usually in the 100 to 200€ range depending on the hardware, boxed or loose and numbers of games included. And also in other European countries, plus Oceania. I really wish that there was at least one Japanese auction site that was English-friendly, because I don't know a word of Japanese. +Ksarul
Note that Google Translate is your friend on the Japanese sites. . .it can mangle things somewhat, but I can usually reassemble the results to get something that makes sense. Yahoo! Japan has a company that does buying services for foreigners since most sellers won't ship outside Japan. Their rates are generally reasonable too--Buyee is their name. I've used them quite successfully in the past.
