ballyalley
I am looking for Side 2 of the disk for "ANALOG Computing" magazine #38 (January 1986). Does anyone have it, or know where I can get it? The January 1986 issue of ANALOG looks like this: Here is what is on both sides of the disk: The A.N.A.L.O.G. #38 (January 1986) diskette contains 13 magazine files. They are listed below. Side 1: Filename.Ext Lang. Load Comments COLORBAR.BAS BASIC LOAD TV Alignment DLIMAKER.BAS BASIC LOAD DLI Maker BACKUP .BAS BASIC LOAD 130 XE Disk Copy FRACTALS.BAS BASIC LOAD Fractal Generator INCOMING.BAG BASIC LOAD ML Game Maker DYNAMIC1.BAS BASIC LOAD Dynamic Displays DYNAMIC2.LST BASIC ENTER Subroutine For Above AIRHOCK .ACT ACTION (*1) Air Hockey Game PSFCONV .BAS BASIC LOAD Print Shop Converter PBFLOAD .BAS BASIC LOAD File Loader For Above SIDE 2: Filename.Ext Lang. Manual *2: See Atari Macro Assembler Manual The second side of the disk contains, among other files, the assembly language source code for the game "Incoming!" Normally source code for a program or game printed in ANALOG was printed in the magazine, but the editor wrote this at the end of the article for "Incoming!": Due to the extreme length of the assembly language listing for Incoming! and lack of space this issue, it has been omitted from the issue. The listing can be found on the ANALOG Computing TCS and Compuserve, on the Atari SIG. - Ed I'd like to look at the comments (if any) in the source code for the game. Here is the first side of the January 1986 disk, which contains the playable version of the game in case you want to try it out:Analog Computing 38 1986-01 Incoming DLI Maker.atrHere is the executable file for "Incoming!" in case you don't want the whole disk: Incoming! ballyalley
Here it is. I just copied it from a real disk. Thanks VERY much for creating a disk image, Allan! I booted up the menu on the disk using BASIC and I got this screen: I can't select the files and use them without the assemblers, but I was curious what the menu did (I didn't expect to see one). I used DOS under the Alirra emulator and sent the contents Disk Directory to the "printer." Here is exactly what's on the disk: Contents of disk, Side 2: DOS SYS 037 DUP SYS 042 BACKUP M65 006 INCOMINGASM 276 DYNAMIC3M65 015 AUTORUN SYS 002 MENU 020 612 FREE SECTORS Here is INCOMING.ASM (which I've renamed) exactly as it is on the ANALOG disk: Incoming! (AtariMania)(Analog Magazine)(January 1986)ATASCII.asm It won't view well in Windows (it just becomes one VERY long line!), but I've saved the ASM file as a DOS/Windows text file. ATASCII text is replaced by a recatangle when viewed in Windows Notepad. You can download the DOS/Windows version of the text file here: Incoming! (AtariMania)(Analog Magazine)(January 1986)DOS-Windows Text.txt I opened the file under Windows 7 using "ATASCIIView Version 1.3" by Lee Hankenis. I "printed" the file to a pdf using "PDFCreator" by PDFForge. The result is a 20-page document (imagine re-typing THAT!?). The pdf still has its accurate ATASCII text just as it should. I wasn't able to adjust the margin, but you always can if you actually print this pdf to a real printer. The pdf which I created of "Incoming!" can be downloaded here: Incoming! (AtariMania)(Analog Magazine)(January 1986)ATASCII.pdf I haven't opened INCOMING.ASM under the "Atari Macro Assembler," which is the assembler used to create the source code. I've never used the "Atari Macro Assembler" at all. I may check it out and see what it can do. I'm not sure if it assembled slow "back in the day," but with Altirra and Warp it will assemble much faster. Thanks again, Allan, for archiving the disk with such speed. You rock!
