S1500
So sometimes I watch YouTube videos on a cell phone, because I'm at work. YT's Android app is terrible. Before I get my video goodness, it makes me watch an ad. And here's where it gets weird. Several times I now get vintage VHS quality Atari ads. Ads for products I can't normally buy at BEST or LaBelle's. Because it's not 1982. Aren't the ads supposed to be for stuff I can buy now? Or does YouTube just show me any video marked "Commercial". Then again, I think it's funny that sometimes on TV you see commercials that are 2 decades old.
Bixler
From my experience, ads on YouTube are either related to recent trends in online social space/media/entertainment, or are what you would typically find on TV -- something related to insurance agencies, cars, etc. Maybe Atari is making a comeback! ZippyRedPlumber
I had a similar situation, one time I was watching a Dailymotion video, when a Tootsie Roll commercial (animated, late-70's early-80s?) popped up when the video I was watching was over. It was wierd...
Gamemoose
I think these are "ads" for certain channels. I was listening to some music videos and when going to the next song I heard someone say that they were going to take a tour of their game room. I looked and the indicator to state it was an ad was up and it was a 21 minute ad which was skippable. Weird. Also got another "ad" which was a music video. Who the performer was I have no clue so if I was remotely interested in his music I couldn't track him.
S1500
I was under the assumption that the ads pre-video were paid-for actual commercials. Why would they even include this if they aren't making money on it?
Bodyshots
Because google profiles you… to make a long story short. (Google & YouTube = 'Same Thing') There are lots of topics on it, ( if you use google ) but here is one for an example. http://gizmodo.com/5888602/how-to-remove-your-youtube-viewing-and-search-history-before-googles-new-privacy-policy-takes-effect
