First Spear
OK, here's another one that might increase the fun factor... An update to Space Armada. I think it might only take some minor tweaks to take this one to Super Pro status, like 1. Simultaneous 2-player play. 2. Aliens that drop down and attack (kind of like some ships in Galaga) 3. Smaller aliens. 4. Power-ups when some aliens are destroyed, like giving a player ship a 1-hit shield, or faster lasers, or multi-spread lasers. 5. "Smart bombs", player has n shots that will hang in the air until an alien slams into it (maybe 4 to start with no chance to reload them). 6. Background music scores for different levels. I have no real idea (yet) how to implement music, but if the game was like 8k or something there could be a lot of random songs for the background. And by the way, with the Intellivision limits on moving cards/sprites, how were all of the aliens moved simultaneously?
catsfolly
In Space Armada, the Aliens were drawn in backtab, and the whole screen was scrolled to move them at the same time. The things that didn't scroll were motion objects that were "counter-scrolled" to keep them from moving with the screen. GroovyBee is working on a Space Armada style game as part of his "Mars Minis" game collection. In his version, he appears to move the aliens back and forth using backtab animation. We are not sure how he iintends to move them downward without having color problems - maybe he will move them down 8 pixels at a time? (From one Backtab row to the next...) So, you might try sending your suggestions to Groovy - his game seems very much a "work in progress". On the other hand, since it is a "mini-game",(whatever that means), maybe he won't want to get more elaborate with it...

+JasonlikesINTV
Add pink aliens and a pink ship. Call it Space Amanda. You can activate by holding 4 and 7 on both controllers and resetting the game
jointfilms.com
Smaller aliens definitely were needed. The aliens are so big before you've barely started they're almost on top of you. Not sure why they went so large with the graphics.
