2600 Boulder Dash - eBay

Only for an entire YEAR waiting for people to actually buy it :P

Ugh. I was unemployed for most of the year. :(

You didn't miss out terribly. It sat for a year because (IIRC) it was grossly overpriced. I Know for sure it was over $50 bucks (boxed with instructions), for some reason I seem to remember $75 as the price...I could be wrong.

Plus really for as much excitement as there was that the game was getting a 2600 port (not sure why that was?) It's just a basic drop/lineup game. Tetris with rocks. Meh.

I must have missed part of the hoopla initially, but based on that I wouldn't be surprised for the auction to fetch a large amount.

There was a reason for the higher price ... and totally worth every penny !!

Yep…as I remember, part of the higher pricing was the official licensing from First Star Software, but the rest of it went into the insane amount of programming and beautiful packaging. It is one of the few home-brews that I play very often, and would have to be in a severe pinch to part with. I hope it never comes to that!

If I had to liquidate my collection I would keep three carts: Cuttle Cart II, Pitfall II, and Boulder Dash.

Tetris with rocks.

That's exactly wrong. Except the rocks part. It does have rocks. Boulders, technically. Hence the name.

Same theme that's been done hundreds of times before was my point.

I seem to recall Boulderdash being one of those very popular home computer games back in the 80's. Boulderdash was one of the games everyone wanted to play. I think it's fitting that it finally was ported to the 2600. I wouldn't mind seeing a 7800 port. *hint hint* :D

Except Boulderdash came out a year before Tetris was even written, and three years before most people in the West had heard of it.

That I can believe. Usually, the original boring versions can be traced back. Asteroids wasn't even the original asteroids, but the (technically) original version never took off for good reason.

I hear you. Same for 2600 Incredible Hulk. Just another take on Pong, IMO.

Why do people write Boulderdash, when it's Boulder Dash. I mean you wouldn't write Supermariobros, would you now.

Anyway, excellent A8 original game. Classic.

Still don't like the box cover art for the VCS version, it should've been based on the original, imo.

I'm not the seller, nor do I know the seller. Wonder if anyone willing to pay the price...

Cheers

A

For the record: That one went for $199,00.
