Tron Unit
My 5200 that I bought on ebay arrived today, however I can't seem to get the console to power on. I have the source switch on the back of the console set to the "circle" and the coax from the console going into the "Game" input on the RF switchbox. The RF out of the switchbox is plugged into the RF jack on my TV and set to Ch. 3. I have tested the AC in numerous outlets and it appears to be working because I could hear the RF switchbox click when I plug it in, it's just the unit itself that doesn't seem to be getting any power as the LED doesn't come on when I press the power button. It came with a spare RF switchbox and I have tried both. The unit itself is in pristine condition and the seller tested everything and said it was in excellent working condition. Hopefully someone here could help. Thank you.
bohoki
its difficult to test without a working unit even on standby mode the led should light up even with bad ram and cpu it should light up so its possible the unit is not getting power shoot for one of the 2 port units
Tron Unit
Alright I contacted Best-Electronics and it sounds like the voltage on the AC power supply is 9.5 v DC which is for the 2-port model and the 4-port AC power supply should be higher at 11.95 v DC so hopefully replacing the power supply with the higher voltage will solve the non-responsive console, assuming there was no internal damage to the PCB.. zylon
replace the little IC near the power switch. It is a common failure item and really cheap. it's function is to split the power into the two circuits or pathways the 5200 uses. Unfortunately I do not have the electronics skills or confidence to risk soldering and potentially toasting the board.
Tron Unit
Bought another working 5200 from another seller and got my money refunded for the defective one. Problem solved. Anyone want a non-working one for parts? PM me.
zylon
Unfortunately I do not have the electronics skills or confidence to risk soldering and potentially toasting the board. It is usually socketed, especially on 4-port decks.
