Starf
Hey all, So I just got my New 3DS XL and wanted to pick up another game to go with it. I have a huge list of 3DS games I want, but do any of you have a definitive title I should buy? Thanks for the recommendations.
Metal Jesus
Does it need to be a physical game? Cuz the eShop has some cool hidden gems:
Austin
Star Fox 64 is excellent and makes great use of the 3D. Link Between Worlds is great from what I have played so far as well.
Jess Ragan
I'm partial to Kirby Triple Deluxe and Mario 3D Land myself. Also, Smash Bros is great if you love chaos, because believe me, you'll get it.
hepcat
If you haven't played them, Ace Attorney Trilogy.
Starf
If you haven't played them, Ace Attorney Trilogy. Oh trust me, I love my fair share of Phoenix Wright games already! Star Fox 64 is excellent and makes great use of the 3D. Link Between Worlds is great from what I have played so far as well. Already bought Starfox 64 3D a while back, same goes for Link Between Worlds. I'm partial to Kirby Triple Deluxe and Mario 3D Land myself. Also, Smash Bros is great if you love chaos, because believe me, you'll get it. Meh, I'm not a big fan of the Kirby games, but I'll look into it. The other games you mentioned I have. Does it need to be a physical game? Cuz the eShop has some cool hidden gems: I never really thought much of the eShop, but thanks for the rec, I might spend some eShop points. bomberpunk
i would like to suggest a $20 DS (not 3DS) gem of a game called Monster Tale, which is a cartoony Metroidvania sidecroller where you play the role of a little girl with a pet monster. You feed him different foods and he evolves into different things with different abilities/attacks. Think less "Pokemon" and more "A Boy And His Blob", although the monster (I don't remember if he had a name or not) is more of an indirect help, except for the boss battles where you'll need him weaken the enemy. in some way. You can upgrade your weapons and moves as well, to become stronger but also to progress. And if you're a completionist like me, you'll want to get every item and evolution for 100% and the best ending. My only complaint is lack of save points later in the game. The endgame gets super hard, IIRC, for a game that looks like it's designed for kids.
Colecovision
It's probably a bit more than $38 but Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is my best game on the system. So much content and fun but you need to play online to fully enjoy the experience. Honorable mention to Legend of Zelda: a link between worlds. The most fun I had with a Zelda game in a long time. But you played that game already.
Jess Ragan
How 'bout Bravely Default? You may be able to get a copy at K-Mart, should you dare to go in one. They're selling off their stock of games at clearance prices. Not GOOD prices mind, but better than retail.
HandheldGuru
If you've got $38 I'd say wait a bit and try to hit $40 lot of great 3DS games are still priced around $40. If you can't, well, here are some great little gems under $38 : Pokemon AlphaSapphire (or OmegaRuby, both just dipped under $35 on Amazon) Animal Crossing New Leaf Super Mario 3D Land New Super Mario Bros. 2 Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call Kirby Triple Deluxe Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Mario Golf World Tour (Great game, criminally underrated and the price is plummeting) Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl Not too many games I hope. Plenty of great games in there and plenty more where that came from! All will give you a fantastic launching point into the 3DS's library!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!
