Shannon
This is something I disovered but didn't really, until now, have anyone else to discuss it with. At the time when MAME the arcade emulator got to the point where it supported alot of arcade games. I found it interesting that alot of games I had for my 8-bit were actually in the arcade at some point. Something that I was not aware of back in the 80's when I owned an Atari. How many of you did that happen too? And which games? I'd name some but my mind is blank. I am aware that some titles actually started on the pc's first (boulderdash, and lode runner), but I'm thinking of others. One example I can think of is Pooyan. Tempest
Tutankham. Never knew it was an arcade game until years later. Same with Buck Rogers and Star Trek. Tempest

Agent57
Lost Tomb from Datasoft. Coin-op from Stern. Good answer, Jeff. I was gonna say that! OK, how about "Moon Shuttle" by DataSoft? I had no idea at the time that this was a Nichibutsu arcade game until I actually saw one years later...
Godzilla
heck, I just now found out that Moon Shuttle was an arcade game. :-) I always thought it was an a800 game... wonder what else there is...
Jeff Lodoen
Here's some little-known coin-ops ported to the 8-bits: Avalanche (APX/Atari) Fire One (Epyx/Exidy) Juno First (Datasoft/Gottlieb) Nibbler (Datasoft/Rock-Ola) Datasoft, the Coleco of the 8bits! Agent57
Also, there were several obscure arcade games which were cloned for the 8-bits: Bandits! = Stratovox Apple Panic = Space Panic Mouskattack = Frisky Tom and so on.
Shannon
apple panic! That's the one I was trying to remember. That was by sierra games right? Wow you guys listed alot of games I didn't catch. I just remember playing mame and the atari 800 emulator and thinking... wow.. I knew most of the mainstream ones.
Agent57
apple panic! That's the one I was trying to remember. That was by sierra games right? It was actually made by Broderbund.
ZylonBane
Though never directly ported, an old Sega/Gremlin arcade game by the name of Astro Blaster spawned dozens of near-clones. Threshold and Megamania are two of the more notably direct ripoffs. http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter...=A&game_id=6943
Shannon
Yeah I noticed the similarities too, although I couldn't remember the name of the 8-bit version.
Goochman
Was an Atari800 version of Astro Blaster produced?
ZylonBane
Re-read my last post.
Goochman
Threshold and Megamania are not Astro Blaster - though of the same genere - Im curious if a direct port by a different name was ever created. Threshold is much better than AB IMHO!
