In case anybody would like to know Albert ask me if I could do a updated label art on this Zaxxon game I LOVE Zaxxon and I really really wanted to do the label some justice^_^ Im like 95% done on it and soon send it to him once Im done.

Here's the early line art on it I wanted to make the label art to have the same style artwork from the arcade's sideart but in a different view point using my old Zaxxon label art from the MSX cart but trying to use the old arcade art work and color.

I really like the artwork and the look you gave it. But sadly this cart game does not live up to that cover art.

I'm a big fan of the Zaxxon coin-op too - and would like to see a quality home version one day. The Colecovision game was not as good as say the Donkey Kong version. But to be fair - the Zaxxon coin-op is not easy to convert to any home system/console/computer.

Your welcome to your opinion. There is no arguing that it is plain graphically, but it has most of the game play elements and is both challenging and fun to play. I enjoyed playing this game on my 400 as a kid and wanted to have the better 32K version to play on my 5200. I thought it would be a fun little project so I did the conversion and posted here for others to enjoy. A few people have expressed interest in a cart so we are making one available. If I want an authentic game of Zaxxon I can play it on MAME. :)

There is an opportunity for anyone who wants to? To have a go at putting together the graphics for a possible Zaxxon game - just PM if you are so interested?

There are 2 ways to go about this - one is the easier option of doing Zaxxon sideways scrolling - as I will show in AtariBLAST! - and there is the way to do it diagonal scrolling - which is way more difficult, and takes up more characters but there is not a proper test program to run this - just a rough program that will show it diagonal scrolling.

There is no Zaxxon project on the cards - so to speak - but if the graphics were already done - this may entice some programmer to want to bring it all together for a possible project? Well, maybe - maybe not.

There is nothing to stop fans of any game (that was not converted to the A8 hardware) to have a go at doing the graphics themselves. Not as a mock-up - but runnable on A8 hardware - to show how it could be done - say in Antic mode 4.

You can surprise yourself in what is possible - that is, if you are into designing/drawing graphics. It will take time and effort to get results.

I think the best home computer version of Zaxxon is the Synapse version for the C-64 - as it captures the elements of the coin-op Zaxxon better than any other home version. (There's actually two versions on the C-64, another version has more fortress graphic elements present - but is not as well programmed as the Synapse version. You can compare the two versions on Youtube.

While Ron Fortier is noted for his Bruce Lee game - I don't think his work on Zaxxon was as successful. I know I am a harsh critic - but only because I do want to see as high quality as possible for the A8 software - and think such things are possible, when the right people get behind certain projects.

I do think it's great that you converted the 32K version of Zaxxon to be runnable on the 5200, as the more titles for the 5200, the better off 5200 owners will be.

Hopefully more new 5200 projects will appear too.
